Now this was the real deal today. Nothing short of epic cow fishing. Scott released a 110 lb., 170 lb. 180 lb., another 110 lb., 175 lb., and a 150 lb. tuna. He kept a 220 lb., and a 250 lb. tuna. Bob released a 180 lb., 130 lb., 190 lb., and kept a 220 pounder. Al released a 190 lb., 125 lb., 185 lb., and a 140 pounder. Craig released a 135 lb., 150 lb., 145 lb., 180 lb., 190 lb., another 180 lb., and kept a 190 lb., and a 193 pounder. Roger released a 110 lb., and kept a 204 pounder. Sheridan released a 125 lb., 170 lb., 150 lb., 160 lb., and 190 pounder. Tom released a 110 lb., 160 lb., 150 lb., 185 lb., and kept a 221 lb., and a 205 lb. tuna. George released a 120 lb., 130 lb., 100 lb., 185 lb., 180 lb., and another 100 lb., and kept a 205 pounder. Wow what a day. We're all just shaking our heads at how wild it was. Lunch was calamari with a red sauce and dinner was veal chops. We'll see you tomorrow.

July 16
    Arrive depart day today.  We did the whole routine, I hung out with my baby for an hour and it was time to set sail again.  We left on another 5 day with my buddy Archie and his gang and a few other regulars.  We did well at the bait receivers.  We loaded up on small sardine and left the bay and headed out to do some fishing in the afternoon.  We didn't do much.  A couple of yellowfin is all we caught.  We did see a couple of big schools of 50-80 pound tuna that didn't care we were there at all.  No bites.  We're eating prime rib and heading down in nice weather.  We're going to try for some yellows on the coast in the morning and then head offshore for the afternoon hunting yellowfin.

 

Captain Andrew Viola called in a bit ago with an update from the Pacifica out of Seaforth Sportfishing in San Diego, CA. We returned this morning from a 1.5 day trip and the fishing was as good as it gets. We had limits of Bluefin Tuna and 10 Yellowfin Tuna. The Bluefin were mainly 18 to 25 pounds but we also had 5 or 6 fish in the 60 to 80 pound class. We did manage to catch two of the bigger models (150 and 170). We have a 1.5 day trip tonight with a few spots and an overnighter on Thursday. Come out fishing on the Pacifica.

Dan and his brother David spent the day with us landing 6 Yellowtail and 2 Yellowfin tuna. Fun fishing the weather was excellent. 

Our 80 yellowfin and 34 skipjack did not come easy today. 15 stops on schools that were big enough to catch 500 if they were in the right mood. Beautiful weather and amazing sign of fish.

Today was tough for the first 3/4's of the day looking for 30-40 lb. yellowtail and we only picked up a 1/2 dozen. by late afternoon we bailed out and went for the 20 pounders and had excellent time winding up our yellowtail fishing for the trip. Tomorrow we will be strictly concentrating of Dorado and any tuna we might find. The weather is still spectacular. Thanks, Tommy and crew

Hello Everyone, Today was a great day on the tuna grounds. We had an un-real sun downer bite on Bluefin Tuna in the 40 lb range. Complete chaos, an absolute ripper on fly lined sardine, until the sun went down. Once darkness settled in, it turned into a Flat fall ripper. Landing the Tuna on the jigs was was much nicer on the heavy gear. In addition to the Bluefin we landed 2 50 lb Yellowfin Tuna. Great grade fish. Excellent day on an excellent charter. Today was a fun day. The weather is good now but it was crappy yesterday. At first we were getting yellowtail, which the guys released and then we got into some of those nicer grade yellowfin. Up to 60 lbs. or so. The sharks are nauseating. For lunch we had fresh yellowtail in an Italian, caper, Kalamata olive mixture with fresh tomatoes. Dinner was veal Melanesia. Both were yummy. The guys are having a good time. Not much wahoo yet. But we will see what tomorrow brings. Wish us luck! Thanks for tuning in.
