fished turangi today, weather was pretty miserable with patchy rain and cold temps, but hey, itβs winter right? managed to hook into a couple of good size rainbows, around 2-3 lbs each. used some nymphs and they were really biting. just had to be patient between the showers. the wind picked up a bit, made casting a lil tricky but we got it done. overall, not a bad day on the water, just wish it would warm up a bit! headed home with a smile anyway.
got out to taupo today, light rain was kinda annoying but the fish were biting! caught 5 nice trout, biggest was around 4lbs. I was using a 5wt fly rod with some woolly buggers, they just couldnβt resist! saw some nice rises on the surface too but didnβt have the right flies for that. temps were chilly but worth it for the fun! ended my day just before sunset, beautiful views. canβt wait to go back soon!
went out to the tongariro today despite the patchy rain. it was super cold tho, barely 5 degrees, brr! but hey, the fish donβt care. hooked into a couple of nice rainbows, around 4-5lb each, which was awesome! used a little black and silver rapala which did the trick. had to work a bit due to the wind picking up occasionally but managed to find some calm spots near the edges of the river. saw a few other anglers around, everyone seemed to be getting into something. sunset was gorgeous, made the chilly day worth it. can't wait to get back out there even if my fingers are freezing off! tight lines!
hey friends, so we hit the water this morning, got out around sunrise (7:37am). the weather was kinda gloomy with patchy rain but was still good fishing vibes. we started with some light rain, temp was about 11Β°C, which was chilly but bearable. managed to get 4 snapper around 2-4lbs using a glow in the dark soft plastic, they were biting pretty well near the rocks. had to battle some decent winds, gusts hit 24.8 km/h at one point, made it tricky to keep the boat steady but we made it work. perfect day to be on the water even with the drizzle! can't wait to go back soon!
was out today and it was drizzling now and then. caught a couple of small ones, around 600g each. nothing crazy but had a good time chillin by the river. used a simple bait rig with some pellets. could've been better but still loved it!
went out on 24th May, same kinda weather with a bit of rain. didnβt catch anything worth writing home about, just a few little guys. but I love being on the water, even when itβs slow. looking forward to better luck next time!
bright sunny day, the river was pretty quiet but I finally hooked into a nice 2.2kg rainbow! used a bright orange lure which really stood out. felt great to finally catch something after a few slow trips. can't wait to go again!
23rd May was a bit rough, patchy rain and gusty winds. we hit the bay but didnβt have much luck. only got one tiny snapper. still, it was nice being out there, even if the fish didnβt wanna play. guess that's fishing!
