Captain Mike Pritchard called in at 8:45 AM to give us an update from the Tribute. We have 65 Yellowfin Tuna (12 to 25 pounds) very nice grade fish. We have been having very good Yellowfin Tuna fishing the last couple of days. Tommy Rothery docked Polaris Supreme at Fisherman's Landing October 5 following a five-day trip. "We had full speed fishing today offshore on kelp patties," read the report from the boat for October 4. "However for the most part, the yellowtail and dorado we were catching were small. So we released all but a few. We did however get some nice grade yellowfin. No big hits, but good action as we picked away at 30 lb. yellowfin. Jeff prepared a great Cajun chicken with avocado, mozzarella and fresh salsa for lunch. And as we head in tonight he is serving us steak and lobster. We will hit the dock tomorrow morning at 8:00 am. "If you are thinking of coming out fishing we still have some open spots with Larry Brown on his 10-day departing October 25th. Highly sponsored with lots of raffles and giveaways. Give Susan a call at 619-390-7890." Jackpot winner Kenny Pole of Lakeside had a dandy 45-pound tuna for first place. He said it came on a sardine, a 2/0 ringed Super Mutu hook, 50-pound Yo-Zuri line on a TLD 30 reel and a six-foot rod of unknown make. Pole said the fish fought for 45 minutes.

Marlin In the Mix! Today we worked our way up and had a few hours to fish for some Yellow Tail. We did connect with some beautiful 18-22lbers, also mixed in were nursery sized 4-8 pounders that were released. A great pit stop for some quality fish! Pictured is an airborne Striped Marlin we hooked yesterday mixed in with the Tuna. Amazing how much life was around! Will report again tomorrow, Team Supreme

53 pass. 167 yellowtail 25 bonito. Small yo-yo jigs surface iron and live bait were all working. Bring your passports and fish the technique your most comfortable with.

Hi friends. We made it back up to the tuna grounds at first light and found absolutely beautiful weather and the "football" yellowfin tuna were hungry today. Steady jig strikes all morning all the way up until we found a kelp that accounted for most of our score on this day. It was a really fun kelp too. You could look in the water and see brown for most of the stop and these fish were on the squid real nice and the skip jig as well. Kub Ito even got in on some hand-line action which was pretty entertaining. Speaking of Kub, Kub had ten minutes of hardhat time for two minor offenses. Good job, Kubby bear. Anyhow, fun morning of fishing and flat calm, sunny weather to boot. A fine way to end a fine trip and Joe Beck and the boys are pumped.

Anyhow, we're traveling up the line in a very calm ocean and we're looking to arrive to the docks at 0600 where we will be getting the boat turned around and heading out on our annual Gary Roberts 9-day trip. We'll chat with you tomorrow evening sometime. Take care.

P.S. Absolutely no hardhat time for Mark this trip. Shocking, I know. Granted he was in the galley this trip but nonetheless, he was on the boat. Good job, Mark. You now have nine days to reclaim that beautiful yellow dome of yours. Stay tuned.

Mike Pritchard called in with this report for the Tribute. "We're just rollin' out of our 2nd stop. We picked up 25 Bluefin & we still have a couple of fish hang'n. We also caught a half dozen Skipjack, 6 or 7 Dorado here for the morning. We are seeing a very, very good sign of tuna. I know there are a couple guys here who have done very well. We're talking over 100 fish for the morning, with some Yellowfin tuna as well. We'll keep you posted."

8 Bluefin and 3 Bonito today for our group. The big one weighed in at 215 pounds gill and gutted (probably 240lbs) The fish was caught on a flatfall and 100 pound test.
