florida Fishing Report 2024

The San Diego checked in tonight with an update from Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay. Captain Cameron Cribben ran the boat today! We had 31 anglers and caught 56 Bluefin Tuna and 91 Yellowtail. Today was a big day and it looks like the fish are back on the bite.

Drew Henderson docked Polaris Supreme September 22 following a six-day trip with 22 anglers that visited Cedros Island and the albacore grounds with a look for very little at Guadalupe Island on the way through. "The day started up very well for us," he wrote September 18. "It was good scratching up until just after lunch and fishing took a dump. We looked around the Island for a bit and after making a few stops for a few more fish we took off from there and are now heading west to the big Island. We have a great catch of jumbo yellowtail on board and we're hoping to get some jackpot-settling, trophy size yellowfin tomorrow. We had Portuguese style yellowtail for dinner tonight. We had it last trip for the first time and I must say it was by far the best yellowtail I have ever eaten in my life."

We are headed south at the moment. Today will consist of mainly rigging and prepping. Primarily for Yellowfin Tuna and Wahoo. We are looking for kelps today to keep them honest but our main focus is on making good speed for tomorrow.

Keep Cool when it gets HOT and HEAVY! We had fantastic Yellowfin Tuna fishing today. They bit very well and grade was excellent. 15-25 lbs average with 35-40lbers mixed in. Jackpot! Wow what a great day. We had very, very good fishing on nice grade tuna. With the light load we have on this trip the anglers had lots of action. Our scores are as follows: Lon 274 lb., Greg 144, 110, and 152 pounders, Matt a 136 lb., John a 200 pounder, Mike 90, 125, and a 70 pounder, Tim 195 lbs., Chris 70 lbs., and Bill 70, 160, and a 304 pounder! Our weather is good. Lunch was a great seafood pasta and for dinner we went down home with some bar-b-que ribs, beans and corn on the cob. We were all so excited to have this nice big hit on the big fish.

The past couple of days we have seen some very large schools of yellowtail. Today we went out with 31 anglers and caught 14 yellowtail. If you have ever wanted to catch a 25 lb. yellow on the surface iron, this is the time for you. Bring a yo-yo rod a bait rod and a surface iron rod if you are coming out.

Mike Pritchard called in with this report for the Tribute. "So far we are off to a great start this morning. The kelp fishing is very good and we are getting some jig strikes to go with it. We have limits of Yellowtail for our morning, just over 20 Yellowfin tuna and about a half dozen Dorado. The Yellowfin are school sized with some larger fish being caught.

Mike Pritchard called in with this report for the Tribute. "We're off to a great start here this morning. We made a move down to the Yellowfin grounds that really paid off. We have over 150 Yellowfin tuna on the boat this morning. To that you can add 150 Yellowtail. We'll keep you updated as the day progresses.

"We're leaving on a 1 Day trip tomorrow night. I know some Bluefin have been caught locally. It's a good time to go fishing. There is still very good fishing to be had. Hope to see you on the water."
