offshore Fishing Report 2024

Sunday June 22 - Excellent, excellent yellowtail fishing again today. No signs of any black sea bass. We are enjoying absolutely fantastic weather. And everyone is having a great time. Thanks, Tommy and crew

Good evening everyone, This morning started early with most anglers fishing a dropper loop before grey light. Fishing was slow with a handful of quality 20 pound class yellowtail being caught with a few nice sized grouper coming over the rail. As the morning progressed, fishing started to pick up with anglers hooking fish on flylined baits, the dropper loop, as well as the sliding sinker rig. A couple of these fish were unwilling to leave their rock homes, and were able to wrap the lines in some of the jagged bottom structure before breaking off. As the sun rose in the sky, we were able to pick off a couple more of these fish before we found the right school. A little before noon, we settled into a school of fish that wanted too bite a little bit better. We were able to keep these fish around the boat for the rest of the day, and would hook a handful at a time as they bit in flurries from 2-7 fish at once. Majority of these yellowtail were in the 20-25 pound class and came off the flylined sardine or mackerel. One 50lb class grouper made its way over the rail which fell victim to a sardine flylined on 30 pound test. With the day winding down, we decided to point the boat toward the kelp zone in order to give ourselves an early shot at some more fish in the morning. Ok guys we are just finishing up the last few items on our maintenance list. We plan to start fishing daily on Saturday February 2. These trips will be targeting yellowtail at the Coronado islands. If we do not see yellowtail we will target bottom fish. Bring a yo-yo rod a live bait rod and a rock cod outfit. These trips will cost $105 which includes your Mexican permit. Come join us !

POLARIS SUPREME TRIP UPDATE 10-03- 2020 Socked in fog today and this is all eye ball fish! We caught 1 fish in the dark and one mid day. It finally started biting late, bit into the dark and turned into a fantastic day. all Bluefin today 25-55 pounds. The seas where flat calm and look like they will be for a few more days. Only 1 pic too busy. In tomorrow and back out for 3. The Polaris Supreme Crew!

Today we went out with 28 passengers and caught 6 lingcod 74 red rock cod and full Mexican limits of rockfish. Our rockfish were a nice mix of Boccaccio , bank perch , chuckle heads and whitefish. We looked around a little bit for yellowtail but unfortunately we never found a school. We are scheduled to fish everyday. Make reservations at 619-224-3383 if you would like to join us. -capt. Ryan

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 07-19-2016 Okay we departed last night on Paul Hess's annual five day trip. We got another great group of folks and a nice load of bait to take down to the tuna and yellowtail grounds. The two pictures at the scale are of Jack and Kenny with their jackpot bluefin tuna one weighed about 124 and the other weighed about 120. We are looking offshore today and at this moment striking out. We have not put a fish on board. Have only found two scraggly kelp's and no schools of tuna. Weather is good and our expectations are high. Hopefully our evening report is a little bit more exciting than this one. The first picture that we put up today is a color water temperature chart of the area around Guadalupe Island. We would love to make a nice catch on the yellowtail in the next couple of days and be able to go scout out some new country for yellowfin tuna! It's a little hard to go out searching that far offshore though without something on board. Wish us luck! The Polaris supreme crew

Captain Mike Pritchard called in this morning with an update from the Tribute. So far off to a great start we have over 75 mixed fish. We have 30 Bluefin Tuna (20 to 45 pounds). We have 40 Yellowfin Tuna and a handful of Yellowtail. Extended 1.5 day trip departing at 5 PM on Friday night. We have seen some tuna up to 120 pounds caught in this zone.

Looks like we have some very strong winds coming on Friday and Saturday. If you plan on fishing this weekend. Sunday will probably be the best day.
