st augustine offshore Fishing Report 2024

We departed nice and early on Paul Hess's annual 5-day charter. Every year Paul puts together a great group of guys. Most are always repeat customers, but I saw one or two new faces this year.

Everyone is anxious to get out there and get their lines wet. The prospects look good for albacore, yellowtail and yellow fin. Our weather is good for the start and lets hope it stays nice. Thanks for checking in!

Aug. 23

The morning started off as predicted. Good fishing on a beautiful grade of fish. Seniors for sure. After a few hours of pumping and pulling the fishing shut off and stayed that way till after the appetizers were put out and wouldn't you know it, the fish wanted some too. So we pumped and grinded ( or ground?) again on the Polaris Supreme for a while longer and now we're headed for new grounds. Should be great tomorrow for our last day. We'll see.

No helmet time for Mark today. His litlun Chase must be keeping him under control. See you tomorrow. Polaris Supreme clear.

Hello everyone We are wrapping up our Beck, Wagstaf and Emerson and Friends 5 day trip today. This trip the Joe Beck, Mal Wagstaf and Emerson and friends charters joined forces on this summer time five day trip. We had some great fishing on some great quality yellowtail. Most of the fish were well into the 25 lb class with some pushing 30lbs. The fish were up high and very surface oriented. They were being hooked on the fly line sardine and surface iron. It doesn't get much better than yellows boiling around the boat and chewing on the surface iron. We had very few small fish mixed in with these biting yellows, the vast majority were great quality fish. It was a great relief getting into these big biting fish after a few trying trips with tough conditions. The next leg of our trip was spent offshore and lead to fantastic kelp patty fishing. The kelps we found had great sized yellows on them school size tuna and also some trophy Dorado. We were able to top off our yellowtail count and mix it up with some Dorado and tuna as well. The water was blue, the fish were biting, and the weather was flat calm. Everything one would ask for during an offshore fishing day. Capt Mike Pitchard called in an on the water report for their overnight trip, fishing has been very goos. We have about 60 mixed fish, with a really good Yellowtail bite now and a few nice ones in the mix. We also have a handful of Yellowfin and Bluefin Tuna, we are starting to run short on time but still fishing. Hopefully we can get a few more before we are done, we are leaving on a 1.5 day trip tonight. Hope everyone is having a great 4th of July.

We departed today on the Dan Heil Memorial charter with his son Ron Heil as charter head. It's pretty cool to see some of the old faces. Dan's charter has been with me for over 25 years. We were in a panic rush to get out and get to the local fishing grounds before dark. We got about three good hours of fishing and snagged a handful of yellowfin, a bluefin and a beautiful opah. Good morning everyone, Today we tried for bear, we were going big or going bust! We had our sights set on these big Bluefin Tuna. The tuna were very particular on what they ate. If you were persistent with a nice lively bait over and over all day long you had a chance at a bite. Bites were few and far between but when if you got picked up it was a big one. We had two bites today and one of them bit our charter master Vernon Burkes bait. He was prepared and ready with the right gear, the right persistence mindset, and capitalized on his opportunity with a large Bluefin Tuna! Today it was nice to have a chance at these fish but we are going to try inshore tomorrow for yellowtail. Wish us luck! Team Supreme

Good morning everyone! Still battling some very very rough seas! We should be into Ensenada on time this afternoon and definitely will not be doing any fishing today. Looking forward to getting out of this weather probably by 2 o'clock or 3 o'clock this afternoon. It looks like the next trip Vernon's guys will have a nice ride down to Guadalupe on their five day. Nothing to do today but breakdown tackle and do a few boat projects.
