monterey Fishing Report 2025

Captain Ryan Bostian called in with an update from "The San Diego" out of Seaforth Landing. We have been fishing offshore for Bluefin lately but it is just not biting enough for us. So we are throwing in the towel! We will be fishing at the Coronado Islands tomorrow. Please be sure to bring your PASSPORT with you. Our final day went perfectly as planned. We fished a few hours drifting for cod in flat calm weather. Good red and ling cod fishing. We then shot outside and found a couple kelps holding some nice grade yellowtail and a few dorado. We enjoyed a nice easy ride home and spent the rest of the day lounging, cleaning, some read, watched movies and some took naps. We get in tomorrow at 7:30, unload, load and the big guy takes her back out for 4 days. We're out. Stay classy San Diego

Capt Mike Pritchard called in from the Tribute with an awesome early morning fish report, it is 9 am and we already have 47 Bluefin Tuna from 40 to just over 100lbs, and a few Yellowfin Tuna. What a way to start the day, if you coming out to fish, make sure your tackle is in good working order, this will prevent some heartbreaks. We recommend that you have at least a 40 lb set up, also, a special thanks to SAC for assisting in getting the Bluefin Tuna issue resolved with Mexican authorities. Hope to see you out here soon.

Fishing was not wide open today. The guys topped off with the yellowtail for the trip. They also had good fishing on the dorado on a couple of different kelp patties. Our weather continues to be great. As we travel home to make our 6:00am arrival tomorrow we will be dining on Pedro's exquisite prime rib dinner. Come see us at the dock or better yet book a trip and come out with us. Tomorrow we'll be heading out on Tom Chaparro's annual 5 day, 18 passenger, lite load charter. 117 yellowfin 47 dorado. Beautiful weather and biting fish.

Sunday night we spent the day targeting trophy bluefin with tall of the boys from fish 101 restaurant. We had some very good opportunities through out the day. Landing 12 fish biggest was right at 300lbs then closely followed by a beautiful 275lber and the rest where in the 60-80 lb range. 

Today we fished yellowfin tuna. Fishing was good, when the dust settled we had 113 fish in the hole all being 12-18 pound fish. We did also see a couple nice schools of bluefin but didn’t not hook any unfortunately. Back out tonight ! 

Today we we picked at the quality Tuna we have been after. Many successes before the sharks took their share. The fish were on both live bait and chunk bait. It was nice catching them on the chunk because we were able to use big hooks and heavy line. As opposed to small hooks and light line.

Pictured here is a neat looking Pilot Fish. Really cool looking blue fish with black stripes. They hang out with sharks waiting for bits and pieces from a kill to float back to them. Also pictured is a delicious sashimi spread prepared by chef Mike!

27 pass. 1 mahi mahi (released) 20 yellowtail 135 skipjack tuna. Poke time!
