The 21st annual Eric Rogger charter arrived at Fisherman's Landing August 16, after five days with 18 anglers aboard Polaris Supreme. Owner-skipper Tom Rothery was at the helm.
"Wow!  What an incredible day," wrote Tom August 12. "This albacore is in the cooler 76-degree water.  It wants to bite wide open. Can't say enough about how much fun today was catching big fat jumbo albacore. They tired our anglers out. By the end of the day only a few fishermen were still standing.  Chef Pedro fixed a spicy teriyaki albacore lunch that was fantastic.  For dinner he served some delicious veal chops. Today was just a great. This is what albacore fishing is supposed to be like."
John Lindsey of Newport Beach won first place for a 41.4-pound albacore. He took it with a sardine on a Mustad 2/0 94150 hook on 20-pound Blackwater fluorocarbon leader, 20-pound P-Line, an Accurate 197 reel and a nine-foot rod of unknown make.
"He fought hard," said John. "He fought for 20 minutes."
Cole Pearce of Huntington Beach was second, for a 36.4-pound albie, and Brian Harnack of Culver City took third place for a 36-pound albacore.

Amanda Cervallos and Kimber Reed display 2 of the 152 yellowfin we caught today. The savvy angler would bring a rod to fish 20lb and a rod to fish 40lb. We also recommend bringing out a pair of pliers to remove your hook during a hot bite.

Captain Ryan Bostian checked in this morning at 6:02 AM with an update from yesterday’s trip aboard the San Diego! We are on our way out Saturday morning. We had a good trip yesterday. We went out with 36 passengers and we caught 15 Bluefin Tuna. Two of the Bluefin were 60 to 65 pounders. The rest were 30 to 35 pounders. There are also some bigger ones jumping around out there. We also had a kelp for 74 Yellowtail and 26 big Bonito.
We are heading out right now there is a slight wind lump. Call Seaforth now at (619) 224-3383 to get in on the action.
Bring a flat-fall rig and a bait stick. We recommend a heavy stick for fat-fall and a 2 speed reel with 60 to 80 pound spectra and a short top shot.

Capt Mike Pritchard called in from the Tribute to report fantastic Yellowfin Tuna for our 33 anglers, we have 240 fish on board and still fishing. We had over 150 Yellowfin on our first stop of the day, we have scheduled another trip for Monday night. You can called the landing at 619-224-3383 or go to www.seaforthlanding.com and sign up. Wow what a great day! We had an awesome morning bite on the Dorado. Big bulls and cows. We took a break at lunch and Pedro prepared a Southwestern 10 oz. burger that was delicious. He really nails the menu with his creative spices and herbs. Back out on the deck we had excellent fishing on the wahoo throughout the whole day. And then to finish up the day we caught some yellowfin tuna. Just a great, fun day. Dinner tonight was a spicy ginger shrimp curry. Another great dish. Our weather all day has been beautiful. I hear it's been crappy up above and hope it lies down before we start up the line.

Tom Savage with 1 of our 3 bluefin today. We have decided to switch our run back to the Coronado Islands until further notice. Please bring a 25 lb bait rod, a 40 lb yo-yo rod if your a lure guy don’t forget your jig stick. Who knows we may even see bluefin at the islands soon. Passports required.
