  Well, we didn't really connect on the tuna today.  Darn.  I really thought it was going to happen too.  Oh well.  That's all we can say.  Oh well.  We gave it our best shot until around 2:00 this afternoon and then we had to call it.  There is another trip leaving tomorrow so we have to go home.  We caught a bunch of litluns today and some nice yellows on kelps but we didn't find our 100 fish stop on the 15-22 pound tuna.

  World class yellowtail fishing this trip for some world class folks and I mean that.  Even if they are Giants fans.  We have a busy day tomorrow.  There's a lot to get done prior to take off including the official weigh in.

  That's right folks.  You heard it here first.  Justin vs. Mark. October 1stish.  He who loses the most weight gets crowned Polaris Supreme's first ever Biggest Loser!  I'm so excited!

Polaris Supreme Trip Update 07-30-2016 What we started out our first day fishing with great hopes of success catching yellowtail right off the bat on the anchor. Those dreams ended quickly with only a handful of fish off-color dirty water and really not that much life compared to what we had seen in this area before. Knowing we needed to make tracks heading towards what we hope will be tomorrow's hot tuna grounds we quickly departed for offshore kelp patty fishing the rest of the day. Although we were in excellent water and saw plenty of kelp's we had no success. Beautiful weather fun group of guys no fish. That pretty much sums up yesterday. Oct. 10

Another travel day today so another day with nothing to report. I enjoyed a nice sleeping in this morning, then ate some cereal, then cleaned an engine room along with Mark and Jed. I noticed there were some movies being played and naps being had. We're going to try our hands at some squid in the early a.m. hours to give us a little more to fish with tomorrow. We're getting in the bluefin mode tomorrow for our last day before we return to San Diego.

Mr. Joe G. Yes you Joe. I am truly sad to say that tomorrow is our last chance to catch an albacore before we square up our bet. Unfortunately even if there was a miracle and we did find a biting school I don't think we could get a hundred to make you a winner in our bet so make sure you have that bill clean and crisp. I know you know but I would have loved to lose that bet. Thankfully we had the bluefin this year covering for the albacore so we were still in good shape for the summer. Fall is here and they're still biting. Timing is everything.

First things first !! I think a hearty Sportfishingreport.com congratulations are in order for J.J Gerritsen and the crew of the Apollo for their clean #1 sweep in annual SFR fishcount standings for 2006. Yellowfin Tuna # 1!!!!!!!!!!!, Albacore Tuna # 1!!!!!!!, Dorado #1 !!!! Very impressive numbers indeed !!!! Way to go guys, awesome year !!!!So when good friend and Santa Barbara local Doug Browand called and said a bunch of local firefighters and friends had chartered the #1 boat in the land for a little Island Freelance trip, I was packing my gear and clearing my schedule in a hurry. We loaded up on time and headed out of Sea Landing in Santa Barbara straight to Santa Rosa Island in case the squid and WSB wanted to show. J.J promised us some outrageous rockfish and lingcod action if the seabass were still MIA. We gave it a solid effort but with no signs of squid or WSB we motored up and headed out to some of Captain J.J's secret rocks and reefs. The first drift of the day produced monster reds and chuckles that rival some of the nicest and biggest rockfish I've seen and caught in many years. The Channel Islands Rockfishing is on Fire !!!!!! Throw a bunch of nice legal lings into the mix and you're talking a really fine day of fishing and a great time for all. The fishing at the Islands is only going to get better and J.J and the boys on the Apollo will be there fishing for them everyday. We woke up to jock strap and sun visor weather this morning. Did some rigging and had roast beef in a portabella mushroom sauce for lunch. We had good success acquiring yellowtail and tuna for hors d'oeuvres and proceeded to eat them in the form of sushi and sashimi. Dinner is coming up in a few minutes, halibut in a lemon butter caper sauce. We are going to consolidate our sardines and swing by the bait grounds to pick up a tank of greenies. We will see you tomorrow on the tuna grounds.

Today our passengers made it thru the strong south wind, fought off the morning sickness, and were rewarded with 93 yellowfin tuna and 108 skipjack tuna. Our schools would go back and forth from aggressive to line shy. A wise angler would have a variety of line sizes from 20 to 50 lb. small hooks are very important. Size 2 Mustad 94150 or something similar.

Our private charter went the distance today. They were rewarded with 31 yellowfin 22 dorado 66 yellowtail 46 skipjack.

Polaris Supreme Update 11-02-2012

 

 

Today we traveled up past the Ridge and Alijos Rocks. The Guys have plenty of wahoo so we decided to leave any wahoo at the Rocks for one of the other boats in our code group who is going to be their later in the day. We wish them good luck. I have been very reluctant to bring it up but our weather has been and is fantastic so far and is forecast to be so for the next few days. And on another good note our speed going up the line has been great and we will easily make our ETA of 8:00 hrs. on Sunday morning. We will see all you Lady's who have chosen to make the 4 hour round trip to see your husbands their. The crew finished scrubbing the last major section of the boat and only have a little fine tuning for our next group The OTR Gang ( Ocean Tackle Research ). George has given me the ok to use up a couple of hours of our spare time to go looking for flying fish for kite bait next trip, wish us luck and thanks in advance George. The gang has just been kicking it. Charlie is trolling and has caught 1 dorado, Jer Bear is more like sleepy bear, George is making lists for his next trip. I don't think it has any thing to do with fishing because it had sluice box on it. Gunner has watched Jack Ass 3 Way too many times. Craig has been doing computer work and hanging with JC and Charlie on the aft deck. Brad, Bernie, Scott, and Bill are like ground hogs you just don't know how long they are going to be up for meals before they go back down napping. I went through over 1,000 pictures and came up with about 250 that I will put up on the web sight and our face book page on Sunday morning. I will warn you now that it's mostly guys cocktails cigars and sun sets. I can't believe we caught so many wahoo and I think their is only 2 wahoo pic's.

Well that's about it Eating very good still 4 meals a day. Sometimes we even have 10 zies and 2 zies. ( Ya Ya Richie I know that as well as other words I made up are spelt rong.) Getting caught up on the zzzzzz's. Thanks for tuning in Team Supreme.
