Ryan Bostian called in to give this report on the fishing at Coronado Islands, "In the last 3 days the temperatures have really jumped up on us. We are looking at 64 - 65, even 65.5 in some areas. We have been catching and seeing Yellowtail for the last month and one-half down here now. We started off in La Jolla, now we are down to the Coronado Islands. We have been averaging anywhere from 3 to 48 Yellowtail per trip. We had a nice day last Thursday, we had 48 of them. There are the same amount of fish around, we see some very nice schools. Some days they bite, some days they do not. It has not been easy to catch one but if you do catch one they are very nice sized fish. Most of them are every bit of 20 lbs., we did have a stand out yesterday which was 36 lbs. Very nice Coronado Island Yellowtail fishing.

As far as tackle goes if you came down with a 25 lb. rod and a fly line, a sardine, a little piece of fluorocarbon on the end of your mono and some 2/0 bait hooks you'd be all set to fly line. For those folks that like to fish artificial lures we have takes fish on both the Yo-Yo lures as well as the surface lures. Plenty of targets to throw at for you surface pluggers, if you'd like to come on down please join us aboard the San Diego. We do run every single day, we depart the landing at 5:30 AM, we'll be fishing the Coronado Islands for Yellowtail until something better pops up. Where ever the fish go we will go and right now they are at the Coronado Islands we are having a lot of fun with it. Hope to see you guys on the water."

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-06-2016 Hello everyone our morning started off with something different around the boat as we started our day of fishing for the bluefin tuna. What was it? Squid!! And yes we scooped up some to use for bait. sure enough we put it to good use with our first bluefin tuna of the morning being hooded on it. With live squid and sardines we did well today. Like Art Gutierrez landing a bluefin tuna over 90 pounds after a long and hard battle. most of the fish were 60-90 pounds. And yes we did have several heartbreaks which is part of the game with fish of this size. But we did land our fair share today. Great fishing all around. Today was our first full day of fishing! We are off to a great start with some great grade Yellowfin! 

 

Good morning everyone, Just finished off loading our bounty from our beck five day charter, and man what a trip! I would like to thank Joe Beck for again putting together another successful trip. Year after year we always look forward to taking you guys out! Today we depart on our Sadie Hawkins 3 day trip. A great 3 day filled with many great fisherman and lady anglers. Our morning started off at 4:30. There was some good meter life on the first spot we looked at so we woke everyone up to try it and we had it figured out in the first 45 minutes. A few good grade yellows and a whole lot of smaller ones so we brought the lines in and continued down. An hour later we tried another spot for some more nice yellows but not enough so we continued down. The next spot a couple hours later was a disappointment. Not much yellowtail and not much wahoo. We got one wahoo almost to gaff before it spit the hook and swam away. So we continued down. The next spot we tried produced one beautiful wahoo and showed pretty decent sign of good grade yellowtails that didn't bite like you'd think. We caught some but it didn't keep us anchored up till sunset so we continued down. 1:30 hours later we were anchored up on our last spot of the evening and again it showed pretty good sign of yellows that bit pretty good for us up until dark. It was good enough to stay put and try it in the morning. We might of caught 1 million dorado today. I lost track at around one hundred and three but it might have been around 1 million. Unfortunately most of these dorado weren't much bigger then a neck tie and we let most go to fight another day. The weather was windy today. Wind and swell but for some reason it wasn't bad fishing weather. Maybe because our usual direction we worked was down but even when we would slide on a jig strike we never took any mean snaps. The wind came down after the sun went down so we're hoping it stays down.

POLARIS SUPREME TRIP UPDATE 10-02-2020 Great fishing today on Bluefin from 35-160 and yellow fin 40-70 pounds in slick weather! The Polaris Supreme Crew!

Capt Ryan checked in from the San Diego out of Seaforth Landing, today they went out on a 3/4 day trip with 48 anglers. We ended the day with 39 Yellowtail, the water temperature cooled a little with this front we had. The temperature when we arrived was about 61.5 degrees, as the day went on the temperature warmed up nicely and was 65 degrees as we headed home. We saw some really nice schools of fish today and it should only improve as the weekend gets here, they seem a little lethargic right now. But as they adjust the fishing should only get better. Make sure to bring a yoyo rig, flyline rig and a surface iron rig, come on down and get in on this action. We are fishing everyday with a departure time of 5:30 am.
