kootenai river Fishing Report 2024

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 12-02-2018 We got into Guadalupe Island with about two hours to fish before dark. The school we got on was not large but we managed to hook several nice fish the biggest one being 135 pounds. The two boats fishing the island while we traveled down today had probably one of the best days of the year. Super stoked and excited for tomorrow! Weather is of course excellent at the island . We will be checking in tomorrow evening after hopefully an awesome day. The Polaris Supreme Crew!

We started in the rain, loading passengers and loading bait. Now we're full steam rolling down in nice weather. There is reports of bad weather down below but we're traveling the correct direction for it not to effect us. We hope this trip is in perfect time with the perfect weather. We'll most likely start the trip off with an afternoon of yellowtail fishing before we decide on where we're going from there.

Thursday, August 16th, 2012

Hi friends. We dropped off Eric Rogger and friends to a dock full of curious bystanders and passengers ready to depart on various trips on other boats and the Ron Heil group looked on as well, ready to load the boat and get underway. Why wouldn't they? With the catch we unloaded, you'd have to be a fool not to go fishing right now. A fool, I say. Anyways, we completed all of our turnaround chores, loaded groceries, loaded passengers, and bid the docks farewell. Our bait loading was about as much fun as trying to hit a nail on the head but instead hitting your finger. Our bait looks okay for now but we're closely monitoring the situation. Nothing anybody can do about it. From the guys on the bait boat busting their butt to get bait to all the boats that demand, the guys on the bait receivers, or us, it is what it is.

Anyhow, Chef Shawn kicked out the prime rib, artichoke, and baked potatoes to the peeps and everyone is hitting the rack for tomorrow's wake-up call. We'll be gettin' nasty with it at 0545 hours. Real nasty. Wish us luck.

Trip update 08.09.2015

 Good afternoon folks. Today was pretty slow today, fishing wise. We certainly covered a lot of ground today looking for that boomer kelp and just couldn't find the cherry patty. Not too long after the crack of dawn we were dragging jigs and had the crew up top looking hard. There was no shortage of stuff to stop on, there just wasn't that one holding in our zone today. Such is offshore fishing. Fish being who they are, the really hold you to being in the right place at the right time. Never the less, today still put us in position for a couple days of yellowtail fishing with another great chance of putting some tags on some nicer grade yellowfin too. I have to say though, you couldn't have asked for better weather out on the water today. For most of the day whether you were going up swell, down swell or in the trough, you really couldn't which was which. Gorgeous conditions out here for the passengers on a boat ride or the crew up top looking for fish. We'll take that for the rest of the trip!
 Chef Mike and kicked out an awesome lunch today making his homemade crab bisque served with a chicken ceasar and garlic bread. The only bad part is he didn't make more of it. I know I had at least 3 bowls of it myself. It seemed to be a crowd favorite.  We ended the day with a nice Thanksgiving style turkey dinner topped with a mushroom gravy and stuffing on the side.
 So tomorrow we're gonna be "chasin some tails". Looking to get into some quality yellows, maybe some nicer yellowfin and who knows what else we might come across. Check back in tomorrow evening.

Captain Shane just called in with 30 Bluefin, most in the 40-70 pound range. We go again tonight and there’s still room available.

You know today I was thinking what a great job I have! Of course the weather is flat calm, that helps. No we didn't kick the heck out of a bunch of fish, but I did get to fish all day and was not stuck in traffic once. We did land 18 school Tuna and 5 nice yellowtail, on kelp's, Dolphin, blind jig strikes and other assorted methods. We saw close to a hundred pie plate size baby turtles, along with fin-back whales, blue whales, and big albatross birds.The day was finished with good news from our buddy boat who had some incredible yellowtail fishing in which we will be waking up to bright and early tomorrow morning! Hi friends. I missed you all, a lot. I'm back to tell some stories to y'all and inform you of our activities. We departed this morning on Tom Chaparro's 6-day adventure with his closest friends and family. Tommy and myself have given Drew and Matt Damon, and Ali some time off and we've also brought along a new galley assistant and her name is Daneen. We call her D and she's awesome and a pleasure to have on-board. Hard-working, funny, and happy to be here. She left such a great impression on me, I actually cleaned up the salad station after I served dinner and anyone who knows me, knows that I make a mess preparing salads and usually never clean it up. I couldn't help but chip in for the new girl. She's rad and all of our passengers are going to be thrilled to meet her and The Supreme Team just keeps getting stronger.

Anyhow, enough about our stellar crew, what I will talk about that's stellar is our bait, our weather and our attitude. We're pumped to point this beautiful boat on a southerly course and get down to the local Bluefin grounds. We did have one stop during Chef Shawn's prime rib dinner and landed a handful of BF during the melee. Good times!

Anyways, we're out. We'll be up 05:30 hours tomorrow morning trying for some Bluefin and we'll see what happens. We'll report back to you tomorrow. Wish us luck and good night.

Sept. 29

Well today was more of the same. We woke up to coffee, machaca and eggs and a Tom Cruise movie. Then we rigged up our heavy gear and did our tuna seminar. Then we trolled it up for a bit and looked at a couple of kelps for some neck tie size dorado which we let go. Then we had a nice taco salad and some kind of a room temp soup which was good and then some chose to take a nap while others chose to listen to football and do what guys do while we listen to football. After that it was dinner time and then a quick nap before arriving to the bait grounds at 11:00 PM. Bait fishing wasn't a great success but we did manage to catch 13 nice size squid that will fish beautifully on the kite. Hey, that's 13 200+ pound tuna as far as I'm concerned. Now everyone is in bed and I'm up driving and writing this.The weather couldn't be better and we're about half way there so a little more relaxation before we get down and dirty for several days straight.
