Drew Henderson docked Polaris Supreme October 25 after a ten-day Bunker Memorial trip with 22 passengers. His anglers found some excellent yellowtail fishing, and big jacks swept the pot.

Bob Williams of San Diego fought his 41-pound yellow for 20 minutes before it came to gaff. He won first place for it and said he used a sardine on a 4/0 Mustad J-hook on 40-pound P-Line, with a Trinidad 30 reel and a Calstar 700 H rod.

Rick Bynum won second place for a 39.9-pound yellow, and Paul Kraft took third place for a 39.1-pounder. Paul's cousin Ed Kraft of Pt. Hueneme stood in with the group holding his 33-pound dorado.

July 24
  Well, we didn't really connect on the tuna today.  Darn.  I really thought it was going to happen too.  Oh well.  That's all we can say.  Oh well.  We gave it our best shot until around 2:00 this afternoon and then we had to call it.  There is another trip leaving tomorrow so we have to go home.  We caught a bunch of litluns today and some nice yellows on kelps but we didn't find our 100 fish stop on the 15-22 pound tuna.

  World class yellowtail fishing this trip for some world class folks and I mean that.  Even if they are Giants fans.  We have a busy day tomorrow.  There's a lot to get done prior to take off including the official weigh in.

We have a two day charter that needs anglers. This trip departs Thursday 9/13 at 9 p.m. fishing Friday 9/14 and Sat. 9/15. This trip is limited to 18 passengers. Hi friends. Tough day out here for us on the local Bluefin grounds. The weather gave us fits all day but we did manage to get a few handfuls of Bluefin this morning and a few off of a kelp later in the day. There's not too much to say about what happened today. The weather made things rather sporty but we gave it our all and are happy that we at least had a few stops to show for our efforts. The gang hung tough and we appreciate that from them. They definitely treated the last day like the first.

At around 18:00 hours, we had to call it a trip and begin our end of the trip chores. Chef Shawn just kicked out the Fillet Mignon and crab cakes, Tommy put the slide show on the 50" flat screen, and we enjoyed our final dinner together. Paul's group is always a pleasure to fish/dine/chat with and we had a ball once again. We'd like to say thanks to Paul and company for being the bomb.

Anyhow, our ride is decent as we travel up towards home. We'll be into the docks at 06:00 hours and the guys will be turning around for another 5-day adventure. Look for Drew's reports to be sent out tomorrow evening. Take care.

Reed Fiori checked in tonight with an audio update for The San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing. Today we had 24 anglers catch 52 Yellowtail and 20 Bonito. We had plenty of opportunities today. The Yellows are currently down deep. We are catching them with heavy YoYo Jigs. Bee sure to use a large monofilament top-shot. We are also getting some fish on the dropper loop too. Hello guys:

Ryan checking in here with the report for the past week. This past week was full of highs and lows. We fished for yellowtail at the Coronado islands all week and had some good days and some slow days. Finding fish was not the problem this past week. Finding fish that we could catch was a major problem. On both Thursday and Friday we landed 18 yellowtail both of these days we had yellowtail around our boat all day long. The way the yellowtail have been behaving lately we could catch 20 fish in 20 minutes or we could catch 0 in 15 hours. It's all about timing and a little luck never hurts either.

On Friday as we left the islands to head for home I got a call from our association president. Our president informed me that he had just received a letter from the Mexican port authority. This letter stated that any vessel that wishes to fish inside of Mexican territorial waters (24 miles from shore) must first check in at the port of Ensenada. This news was a bombshell to the boats that fish the Mexican coast. Our president has informed us that every U.S. government agency we know is working on this issue and hopes to get it resolved soon.

In the meantime our options on the San Diego are (1) fish in U.S. waters (2) fish in Mexico outside of 24 miles for yellowtail , tuna and dorado. We have decided to fish offshore.

Yesterday was our first trip offshore, we caught 5 bluefin tuna. All offshore trips will be limited to 50 passengers. I will keep you guys posted on any news I get concerning the Coronado islands.

A good finish to a good trip today. It started off a slow morning like every morning of this trip started off. It being the last day we just traveled north all morning to increase our fishing time for the day. We bumped into a school of those 50-70 pound bft's mid to late morning and drifted till we were out of time. We landed almost 30 of those beauts before we had to call it and head for the barn. The weather today was great and the ride going up is ideal. The fillet and crab cakes were delish and everyone is tuckered out but me but only because I have to be up.

Thanks again to the Heil group for coming out once again after all these years and creating another memorable trip.
