Found another good school of Bluefin at 5:30pm. Good grade 30Lbs. Still biting GOOD. Loosing horse power fast. Down to 6 Anglers. Wind picked up a little but ok. Tommy.

Morning dead. 7 hours of driving around the Atacama. Drifting on same school of Blue fin scene 12:30. Good fishing. 25 to 30 LB. fish. Weather great. Full report at end of day.

Friday, July 6th, 2012

Hi friends. We departed early this afternoon on an open party two-day trip with a nice load of folks hoping to find themselves on some gamefish come Saturday. We have a lot of new folks on this trip and a lot of familiar faces joining us for the weekend, so we're pumped. Our gameplan is to run a little below the area we were fishing on Thursday as there were some schools of Bluefin seen and we'll try our luck at some kelp paddies as well. Anyhow, our weather is very pleasant and our passengers are in good spirits and we'll be fishing at the crack of dawn tomorrow morning, Hopefully, we'll awake to a big ole, fat school under the boat, ready to eat. The morning started off right with steady tuna and yellowtail fishing shortly after daylight. We remained until 10 am when we pulled it and tried to finish off with some more wahoo. We had a few stops for a dozen skin and are now headed home. We have had a great trip with an outstanding group of anglers, excellent weather and delicious food. We will be traveling the rest of today and tomorrow and arrive at the dock on Sunday. You can call the office on Saturday night for our ETA. 619-390-7890 Thanks for checking in.

Tuesday Dec 4 looks to be the best weather window for those folks looking to fish with us.  If yellowtail are unavailable we will target cod in 180-400 ft.  Before anyone freaks out, this picture was taken a long time ago and was on a Comercial boat fishing in legal US waters.  Come prepared for yellowtail and bottom fish.

July 10

Slow day in the long range tuna grounds today. It didn't take long after day light to find what we were looking for as far as bird life and dolphin life goes and it was in the area that we fished on the way down and did well and where other boats had done well too in the past few days but this action had been in the afternoon and we were there first light. Things hadn't gotten with it yet. The fish weren't there. We couldn't wait for the afternoon due to us needing to be in San Diego tomorrow so we had to keep her rolling. We saw nothing else for 30 miles other then a few jig strikes for a bakers dozen. We bumped into some common dolphin around lunch time and we caught some tuna with them but it was short lived. The dolphin were being mean and not cooperating. We did nothing after that and called the trip at 3:00 in the afternoon.

The weather was choppy first thing, then smoothed out until around 2:00 and got choppy again. We're having your average rough ride home. It will be a good test for all the bolt holes from antennas that we took off and replaced. No water dripping in the wheel house yet. I think we're good.

We'll be getting in tomorrow at 7:30 in the morning and we'll be turning around for 5. See ya later.

Good afternoon everyone, We just cleared the point and are headed south on our annual Costello 6 day trip. We have high hopes for the next 6 days. We are really looking forward to having 6 days to be able to spread out and cover some area. We have many options and all of em sound promising! However right now we are kicking back enjoying the afternoon and looking forward to chef mikes delicious prime rib!

We had an awesome 1.5 trip on the Apollo out of Fisherman's Landing. We left Friday night at 7 pm and headed to Punta Colnett. Weather was very nice, calm and glassy. We started fishing for Yellowtail in the early morning but no biter. We preceded fishing for Rockfish. We drifted every hot spots that Captain JJ knew and they were all very productive. We came up with lots of good quality Vermilion Reds, Lingcod and Bocaccio Rockfish. At about 3 in the afternoon, Yellowtail breezers came through and all six of us got hooked with our rockcod gangnion hooks. We ended with two 25 lbs Yellows. Next time I'll be ready. We fished until almost dark and we bagged 125 Vermillion Reds, 98 Rock cod, 25 Lingcod and 2 Yellowtail for 25 guys. Captain JJ runs a top notch operation together with Jessica, Joe, Travis and Chef Nick. They were all very professional and helpful at all times. Chef Nick serves all variety of gourmet food on the boat. Apollo will be still running trips in Fisherman's Landing until end of March and will move to Santa Barbara on April. Don't miss our overnight charter trip on Sunday, April 3rd departing Saturday at 10 pm.
