south lake Fishing Report 2025

Captain Ryan Bostian called in this afternoon with the Coronado Island Report. Today the boat went out with Captain Taro at the helm. Today we had 91 Yellowtail. Yesterday he had 43 Yellowtail. And Thursday we had 70 Yellowtail. We are seeing lots of fish. On Saturday it was mind-blowing how many Yellows were at the Islands. They are biting the fly-lined sardines really well. The guys did it again. Another killer day back to back in more jock strap and sun visor weather. Scott released a 150 lb., 165 lb., 185 lb., another 185 lb., 145 lb., 175., and kept a 210 pounder. Bob released a 135 lb., 185 lb., and kept another 220 pounder. Al released a 170 lb., and kept a 215 lb., 170 lb., 165 lb., and 135 pounder. Craig released a 125 lb., 175 lb., 180 lb., and kept a 175 lb., and 180 pounder. Roger kept a 160 lb., 175 lb., and a 180 pounder. Sheridan released a 170 lb., and kept a 180 lb., and 198 pounder. Tom released a 180 lb., 190 lb., 186 lb., another 180 lb., and kept a 165 lb., 185 lb., and 190 pounder. George released a 100 lb., 110 lb., 120 lb., and 160 lb., and he kept a 160 lb., and 170 pounder. Lunch today was chicken breast burger and dinner was steak Neptune. That's a fillet mignion with crab and Bearnaise sauce. Hors d'oeuvre s were sushi and sashimi. Two more days to fish! Tommy and Crew P.S. The boys say "Hi" to Jim and Charlie. We wish you were here.

Polaris Supreme Trip Update 10-01-2018

We had a great day of Wahoo fishing! We woke this morning to choppy weather.  After telling the passengers that Wahoo don't like rough weather, we proceeded to have our best day so far on Wahoo.  Tom who had been trying for 40 years to catch one caught two!  And then there was at the guys who have never got one before that also ended up with a couple. Whether looks like it is going to be nice tomorrow in the yellowtail grounds.

I know this is super short notice but we have a 5 day leaving Sunday morning that has two openings on it.

Nov. 13

                We were back on The Ridge today.  We got to the spot a little after daylight and we found some action after a little bit of looking.  We were making drifts catching wahoo and tuna.  No great numbers on the wahoo.  We caught one per rod.  That's an average though.  Not everyone caught one.  For example, I believe team Oberg caught 3 or 4, and team Grella caught 5.  So it wasn't a great spread but everyone had there chances.  For example, team Holeman went 1 for 7 nd team Henry lost a bunch too.  But when they weren't losing wahoo they were pulling on tuna.  A bit on the smaller side but not too small.  We were tagging the bigger ones.  It was a fun and productive day I thought.  But we always want more.

 

                We left a little while after lunch toward Alijos Rocks and we'll be there all day tomorrow.  We'll most likely have to leave tomorrow night though because the wind, she's acoming.

                                                                               

Just what we had hoped for! We had a really fun day on some of the bigger grade yellowfin. We landed nine fish over 100 pounds. Charlie got one at 213 lbs. and Gunnar, one of our first timers got the biggest one for the day that weighed in at 230 lbs. He did it all by himself from start to finish. And by the way, he is only eleven years old. He also landed another one that was well over 100 lbs. Our weather is fantastic. Dinner was incredible. Pedro laid out another killer sashimi and sushi appetizer and followed up with a dinner of fresh yellowtail with a Chardonnay, lemon, shallot sauce. Richie said it was probably the best fish dish he has ever had. We are hoping for another fun day tomorrow. Wish us luck. Thanks for checking in.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 10-25-2019 We spent the day looking for yellowtail and only tied into a few. Truthfully most the day was spent dodging wind. Our ride was good but we had some serious offshore Santa Ana conditions. Will be spending all day tomorrow traveling up to San Diego it looks like it's going to be great weather. Will be into the dock on Sunday morning and be doing 17 days of boat work before we head back out again for eight days on November 14. Thanks for tuning in to see you then. The Polaris Supreme Crew!

Oct. 17th

 

We had some good yellowtail fishing today. It took a little while to get going this morning but we had a couple hours of good tailing before it shut off before lunch like its been doing in the zone we were in. After things shut off we made a 4 hour move and had some good fishing again for about an hour before dark. The weather once again was great and we're currently traveling north to look for the bluefin tomorrow. Things have slowed down tremendously up there lately but we're going to look in some newer grounds where we see some good looking water on our sea surface temp charts. There will be a few of us spread out looking tomorrow so hopefully between the three of us we can get something located.

I told Mark today I didn't think he could go one hour without talking. He didn't think so either but he tried and was surprisingly successful. He can not talk for one hour. I think he might die if he tried to do it all day though so I'm not going to challenge him to that.
