southwest florida Fishing Report 2024

How we ended up with only one picture today with such good fishing this morning on yellowtail I don't know? The one picture of Ricky kinda tells it all though! We took off and look for bluefin all afternoon and saw plenty! No biters. Most of the fish was 50 to 150 pounds! We will be trying for yellowtail again tomorrow. Great weather, great fishing and a great group of passengers on Joe Beck and Mal Wagstaff's three day charter. Thanks for tuning in the Polaris supreme crew!

Well today was another tough day for the whole group. A couple stops on 40-70 lb. tuna and a sprinkling of 100-120 lb. fish, but for the most part slow. The weather is still good and the food great. We had lobster salad and home made cream of chicken soup for lunch, and another superb sushi sashimi layout before a prime cut steak and potato dinner. We'll be looking at a new area tomorrow.

Capt Ryan checked in from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing to give us a report from todays 3/4 day trip, we fished the Corondo Islands today for 59 Yellowtail. Fishing seems like it has been good for the last year, we have a shot everyday fro some good fishing. We do have some down days as yesterday we only got 26 Yellowtail, we are finding plenty of schools with fish ranging from 10 to 30 lbs. When you come down make sure and bring a flyline rig, a yoyo rig and a surface iron setup. We have had some recent success recently with some days of getting up to 80+ Yellowtail. The fish are starting to rebound, so come on down and get in on the action. We depart everyday at 5:30 am, come on down and see us.

Fishing here remains slow. However the quality of fish is still great, and we are capitalizing on the fish we are hooking. Still some losses due to sharks but still chipping away at some great quality tuna. We were able to make a tank of Tube Mackerel tonight along with 3 milk crates of chunk. We are looking ready for tomorrow!

Good morning everyone, Yesterday we worked our way up and tried for yellowtail briefly in the morning. We had to be extremely cautious because the early morning fog was very thick. However when it did rise we were able to catch a few yellowtail, but no boomer hits to go with it. We are still very far down the Baja coast and we need to keep working up, so we spent the rest of the day steaming up while dragging some jigs. We will be scouting offshore tomorrow. Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-08-2016 Good evening Supreme fans. We departed nice and early this morning on Brad Bogart's 6th Annual 2 day Tuna Charter. The crew worked double time to get the boat untied sooner than normal to get Brad and company out on the water and fishing ASAP and we did. We left the dock with a fairly set game plan and within a couple hours that all totally changed. Just shows you how things can change at the drop of a hat. On our way out to our intended destination, we happened to stumble upon a school of a really nice grade of yellowfin tuna that wanted to chew good. It was change of pace fishing and catching this 30 lb. grade of tuna that we haven't seen in some time. It's a bonus when you get to change your plans for the better. We spent the rest of the afternoon on these very manageable schools until it was dinner time. Tomorrow should fair out the same way with hopes of this fish sticking around and making a day of it. The guys went to bed after a nice prime rib dinner and a few less fish tags on their belts ready to get back at it in the morning. Check in tomorrow to see how we ended up. I can't close this report out without giving a huge thank you to Vernon "Paddy" Burke and his Simpitico crew for an epic 5 day trip. These guys hung in there with 5 days of trophy style bluefin fishing and we know they are taking home some sore arms and backs to the great state of Texas. They say everything is bigger in Texas, well not your bluefin tuna boys! We're already looking forward to seeing them back next year for another week out on the water. 54 yellowtail 10 barracuda 10 calico bass 1 bonito. Beautiful weather and fun surface fishing. 25lb bait rod and a box of hooks is all you need.
