Hi friends. Typical day aboard a long range boat today. All of the deck crew was up at 0230 hours dealing with a maintenance issue that took a couple hours to resolve, back to bed for roughly an hour, wake up and start our day--hey now, that Ice Cube tune just came on 90's on 9 as I type again and yes, today was in fact a good day--off with some jig strikes on those beautiful 25-50 lb. yellowfin with only a handful of those 12-18 pounders in the mix. We hit a couple of schools throughout the day, had our normal slow time around lunch and in the afternoon time, just as I was half way through my strawberry popsicle, we got on a breezer, I reluctantly ditched my popsicle, and we drifted the rest of the day nailing those big yellowfin tuna. After drifting for the rest of the day, we put out the sack with a couple hours of daylight and the six people who were at the rail continued to catch fish on the sea anchor all the way until dark.

Excellent fishing on that really good grade of tuna. With only a few handfuls of that small fish and dorado, those big fish really were on it today and we'll be here tomorrow to try this all over again. Hopefully tonight we'll make some squid and this weather will come down a little bit. It's a little rolly out here but as long as we're catching beautiful tuna, we won't complain too much. See ya.

We departed today on Lon Mikkleson's annual, limited load 10-day charter. We loaded up some great looking bait while Pedro prepared a delicious pork tenderloin for lunch. The weather is slick, flat calm and the our anglers and crew both are excited about the upcoming prospects. The passengers are preparing their gear and for dinner Pedro put out a yummy lobster and rack of lamb dinner. We will keep you posted.

Our first YFT of the year. Let's hope he is a scout for many to come!!

                These darn bluefin let me tell ya.  This morning looked so juicy.  We drifted for hours on 3 different schools and caught 9.  Hours.  And it's not like they weren't hanging around.  I mean the boat was jugged underneath.  They were under us like shishkabob.  9 fish.  We lost our fair share but 9 fish?  With what we saw?

 

                Mid day wasn't that awesome.  We saw some but it didn't impress me.  We messed around with some small yellows while we waited for things to straighten out.  At 4 things did.  Not right away.  We saw the school and it took a while to get things going but eventually it did.  We drifted for 2 straight hours catching fish.  Not wide open.  But fairly steady. 1-6 going.  Action.  Nice ones.  After that drift we did it again.  Again it took a while to get things going but again, it did.  We drifted until dark on that one.  About an hour.  Same deal.  Maybe a little less. 1-4 going.  So it was an afternoon thing today.  I'm sure glad we hung around for it.

 

                So we head in now.  We're departing tomorrow on a 5 day.  What are we going to do?

                                                                                               

Fishing was a little tough off shore today. There was yellowfin for everyone and we got a few dorado on kelp, but not the big hits like we have been getting. Fished the island with very little signs and only a handful of yellowtail. Tomorrow we will be looking around the island. Weather is decent, and looks like it will be getting better tomorrow. Hello everyone Today and last night was another variety packed fishing adventure riddled with hardships and triumphs. During the night we had a little window of bottom dweller action. There were some nice hook ups, but even more tragic losses. Yellowtail in the rocks and eaten alive by sharks. We did however manage to get a nice grouper passed the obstacles of the deep. Unfortunately most never made it up. The surface action was great. We were able to catch some nice Wahoo, Striped Marlin, and Dorado. Today and the days previous were filled with the most outstanding Marlin fishing we are likely to see in our lifetime. If anyone was lacking a Striped Marlin on their fish list we were able to check that off their list, whether they wanted to or not. Although not targeted on these trips, these marlin are great fun and had some trophy Wahoo mixed in with them. Another action packed day here on the Pacific! Will report again tomorrow, Team Supreme

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 07-22-2016 Good morning everyone from the bridge of the Polaris Supreme. We are certainly holding our heads high after yesterday's action. With a little bit of a scratchy couple of days prior, the switch turned on and it was nothing short of a day that everyone hopes for. The morning pick was nothing to complain about, but right at lunch time, the galley was a ghost town. It was all hands on deck. The grade of fish was a touch on the smaller side to start with some bonito mixed in, but we stayed persistent and fished off the junk. As the afternoon transpired, the size of the yellows just kept getting bigger and bigger. It was a picture perfect yellow bite. Breaking fish, breezers, shiners....surface iron, yo-yo, fly line, dropper loop. We just couldn't miss. Just shows the reward comes when you stick with it and fish hard. The grade of fish was a 15-20 lb average with a handful of stand out 30+ pounders. All and all it was an amazing day out here. We're off to a little bit of a slow start this morning, so we'll just patiently wait til they decide to wake up and get on the chew. Captain Ryan Bostian called in with an update from The San Diego. We had 144 Yellowfin Tuna and 70 Dorado! The fish were not full speed. It was a pick all day.
