Yesterday we went out with 21 anglers. Final fish count for the day was. 2 lingcod 9 sheephead 67 red rockcod 132 miscellaneous rockfish. We fished deep water in the morning and shallow water in the afternoon. We are scheduled to fish everyday. Make those reservations and come join us.

Well we are back out on the water. We departed today on a 5-day with 24 anxious anglers. There are some new faces mixed in with some regulars. Our weather looks like it is going to be good. We will be heading for open water to look for tuna. Dinner tonight was a superb prime rib, with fresh vegetables and potato.

Thanks for the amazing response to the OPEN Shimano Charters we scheduled for the Channel Islands this spring. The response was so positive that I spoke with the folks at Shimano and they agreed to put another trip on line. This one will be set for fishing on March 13. That would be departing at 9pm on the night of the 12th. This trip will be just like the others. Shimano will provide a bunch of outfits for fishing butterfly and lucanus systems. There will be give aways of tackle and goodies as well. Please email me if you would like to join us on this trip.

4th of July action! 38 passengers 6 yellowtail 149 barracuda 7 kelp bass. Very good action all around the islands today. Fly lined sardines and surface lures were the best today. Come on down and see us the weather is flat calm.

Friday, Sept. 28th, 2012

Hi friends. We just wrapped up an epic day and a half trip this morning. Drew really set the stage for this two-day trip that we departed on this afternoon.

On Thursday, we landed 16 bluefin before we even rubbed the boogers out of our eyes and from there we picked and scratched on various jig strikes on yellowfin and kelp paddy fish. A little after lunch, Gunny spotted a kelp that wrapped up our day on yellowfin and dorado. Awesome fishing in flat calm weather. Beautiful. The "blackhawk" strikes again. It really was a fantastic trip and we're hoping for more of the same tomorrow. Oh yeah, we also caught 4 slug albacore. Call Susan and book your spots for 2013 ASAP! Do it.

Capt Ryan called in from the San Diego out of Seaforth Landing called in to let us know they ran their first trip of the year today and what a day it was. We ended they trip with 125 Yellowtail for 38 anglers, very good fishing and the water temperature was 63 degrees. We caught fish on everything we tried from yoyo jigs, surface irons and dropper loops, with the dropper loops proving to be the most effective. We had some hard core anglers who stuck with the surface iron all day and did very well especially late in the day. The are two grades of fish down there, some are 5 to 12 pounds and the other were from 18 to 30 pounders. Today 50 of our fish were of the 5 to 12 pound range, 75 of the nicer grade. Very good fishing and the fishing is not easy we do a lot of driving around and looking, but when you get on the right school you can get a bunch really quick. Reed Fiori checked in this evening with an audio update from Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay. Today the San Diego fished at the Coronado Islands. They had 18 anglers catch 25 Yellowtail, 42 Bonito and 56 Red Rock Cod. The Yellowtail bit late in the day. The Yo-Yo Jig was the ticket and there was a couple fishing caught on the surface iron.
