Umm, hmm. Not sure how today was. Well, we never saw a school of fish today but we did catch fish all day long for the most part. I look over at the chart table at my fish count and it looks pretty good. Just short stops all day long for tuna and dorado. Never drove for too long before stopping the boat on fish so the day wasn't great but it could've been a lot worse. Everyone on board had a great time today and caught there share of fish so I have to say that it was a success. An absolute fun, great group of guys for myself and the crew. My first time with Brad and his group and I have to say they were great. Thanks guys, let's do it again. The weather was fine today. A little breezy but comfortable none the less. We'll be at the dock tomorrow bright and early to make a quick turn around on an 8 day trip.

 

Hi fishing friends, I've decided to put another open party trip together. This trip will depart on Saturday night the 5th and fish Sunday the 6th of April. The weather is supposed to be getting much better and shouldn't be a factor on the trip. Ling cod season is open and we will be looking for seabass as well. This is the reel deal! What a great day fishing on the albacore. Lots of albacore. And a hand full of bluefin too! The weather is good. Everyone is having a ball.

We started off early yesterday morning in the hunt for yellowtail unsuccessfully. Great fishing on it the day before but the water dropped 2+ degrees and they were very inactive. We were getting the "should've been here yesterday" vibe so we took off to fish for yellowfin. After a couple hour move and a few hours in the zone, we were getting the "should've been here yesterday" vibe again but shortly after chowing down a big fat cheeseburger the call came down from Gunny. "kelp". It's those black eyes I tell you. Gets um every time. After that we pretty much drifted till dark scratching at 20-40 pound yellowfin with the occasional flurry for 20 or so. In fact right at dark there was about 6 people fishing, all with one on and the 18 other anglers standing around with a cigar and a cocktail in hand.

The weather was choppy and rolly today but it didn't bother us. As long as your catching fish who cares what the weather does. We were all very sore and tired after today and I think we're all ready for a nice pork chop meal and a pillow and blanket. We'll be fishing for yellowtail all day tomorrow then setting us up for our last day of bluefin fishing.

Mama bear- The litluns doing fine. Pretty much had a bent rod all day.

Captain Ryan Bostian called in with an audio update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in San Diego, CA. Today we had every intention of fishing for Yellowtail. We checked our usual spots and could not find any fish. The water rolled at the Coronado Islands. So we headed West and we ran into Bluefin Tuna. We say large schools of tuna in the 50 to 100 pound range.

We ended up catching 6 of these trophies (up to 65 pounds). They were biting on 40 pound fly-lined sardines. You might also get lucky on surface iron or popper action. We are going to be running Bluefin Tuna trips. There have been some fish caught up to 245 pounds this year.

Captain Ryan Bostian called in last night with an update from the San Diego out fo Seaforth Sportfishing in San Diego, CA. Today we had 24 anglers catch 2 Wahoo and 52 Yellowtail. The fishing was very good. We did have lose 4 Wahoo. The grade on the Yellowtail was very nice. The majority of the Yellowtail was 12 to 20 pounds. Amazing fishing and very low pressure at the islands. I would not be surprised if we see some Bluefin Tuna. We can now keep Bluefin Tuna in Mexican waters. Good evening from the bridge of the Polaris Supreme. We departed this evening at 1600 on our Ocean Tackle Research 16.5 day charter. It's really nice to have this group of guys back on the boat.  With Charter Masters Lon Mikkelson and John Essler having run 10 day charters for well over a decade, they decided to step it up this year and chase the big cows.  This group is certainly well experienced in pulling on big fish, so it's gonna be a great time for them and the crew as well.

                Today we had a little bit of a late breakfast, followed by quick little wahoo seminar and did some mellow tackle rigging.  The weather is fair, not a total flat ride, but it's bearable. Heading downswell is usually never bad.  The rest of the afternoon we just spent catching up with the guys, doing some boat chores and eating some good food.  Tomorrow looks to be pretty much the same schedule, so check back in then.  For now, this is Team Supreme checking out.

Captain Ryan Bostian called with an update from the Offshore Grounds. We had 116 Yellowtail and 1 Dorado. It sounds like there is a nice body of fish moving into our area. We recommend using 30 pound test. September is the best month of the year to go fishing in San Diego!
