Today was a tough day. The fish were there and the conditions were good, the fish were just less eager. Everyone was on the right program when it came to hustling the fish in to avoid the sharks. So the opportunities we did have we were able to capitalize on. Pictured here are fishing buddies Sean with Mark, and Dennis with Travis showing off their captures! Good going guys!

Tom Rothery docked his Polaris Supreme September 28 following the 10th annual Jeffery Hall charter. He tied up at Fisherman's Landing and weighed the top fish from the five-day trip with 22 anglers. Dick Langlois of Rancho Cucamonga won first place for a 69-pound tuna from Guadalupe Island. He said the fish bit on a sardine and a 4/0 Mustad hook. He used 50-pound Ande line, a TLD 20 reel and a Calstar 765 L rod. "I got him in 15 minutes," said Dick setting up for the punch line. "It was 90 percent skill." Dick's son Tom Langlois of Rancho Cucamonga was second, for a 57-pound tuna, and Kalob Hall of Victorville won third place, for a 45-pound yellowfin tuna.

Capt Ryan called in from the San Diego out of Seaforth Landing called in to let us know they ran their first trip of the year today and what a day it was. We ended they trip with 125 Yellowtail for 38 anglers, very good fishing and the water temperature was 63 degrees. We caught fish on everything we tried from yoyo jigs, surface irons and dropper loops, with the dropper loops proving to be the most effective. We had some hard core anglers who stuck with the surface iron all day and did very well especially late in the day. The are two grades of fish down there, some are 5 to 12 pounds and the other were from 18 to 30 pounders. Today 50 of our fish were of the 5 to 12 pound range, 75 of the nicer grade. Very good fishing and the fishing is not easy we do a lot of driving around and looking, but when you get on the right school you can get a bunch really quick. POLARIS SUPREME TRIP REPORT 08-30-2020 WE LEFT YESTERDAY AFTERNOON ON TOM CHAPARRO'S 3.5 DAY LIMITED TO 18 PASSENGER TRIP. GREAT BLUEFIN TUNA FISHING TODAY. 30 TO 40 POUNDS, FLAT CALM WEATHER. FISH WHERE CAUGHT ON 25 LB. DOING THIS AGAIN TOMORROW. IT WAS GREAT! THE POLARIS SUPREME CREW.

Hi Anglers

Well I tried to get a hold of Drew since four this afternoon to no avail. And that's usually a good thing...and indeed it was. Finally at seven he picked up and said he was getting them good. He had 117 bluefin, and it was all that nicer 25-35 lb. grade. It's amazing this fishing has been going on since June. I hope I don't jinx myself here, but it looks like we're heading for a record year here on bluefin.

Captain Ryan Bostian checked in with an update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Landing in Mission Bay, CA.  We had 18 passengers today catch 12 Bluefin Tuna (60 to 80 pounds).   We landed 1/2 the fish we hooked today.  We also caught 3 Yellowtail.  We recommend the flat-fall jig with a two-speed reel loaded with spectra and a short 60 to 80 pound fluorocarbon leader.  You have also be prepared with a 25 to 35 pound live bat outfit for the kelps.

First things first !! Yellowfin Tuna # 1!!!!!!!!!!!, Albacore Tuna # 1!!!!!!!, Dorado #1 !!!! Very impressive numbers indeed !!!! Way to go guys, awesome year !!!!So when good friend and Santa Barbara local Doug Browand called and said a bunch of local firefighters and friends had chartered the #1 boat in the land for a little Island Freelance trip, I was packing my gear and clearing my schedule in a hurry. We loaded up on time and headed out of Sea Landing in Santa Barbara straight to Santa Rosa Island in case the squid and WSB wanted to show. J.J promised us some outrageous rockfish and lingcod action if the seabass were still MIA. We gave it a solid effort but with no signs of squid or WSB we motored up and headed out to some of Captain J.J's secret rocks and reefs. The first drift of the day produced monster reds and chuckles that rival some of the nicest and biggest rockfish I've seen and caught in many years. The Channel Islands Rockfishing is on Fire !!!!!! Throw a bunch of nice legal lings into the mix and you're talking a really fine day of fishing and a great time for all. The fishing at the Islands is only going to get better and J.J and the boys on the Apollo will be there fishing for them everyday. Stopped on a school of tuna large enough to catch 200 but unfortunately we hit them when they were off the bite. We managed to scratch 35 yellowfin on light line bait and poppers.
