We traveled home today. Just one of those perfect rides. It was like we were driving in the bay. Flat calm is what I'm telling you. Just beautiful. The passengers broke down all of their gear in the morning and spent the rest of the day watching movies and taking naps or just chilling outside enjoying the ride while the crew did the end of the year cleaning. Spring cleaning you'd call it only in November. That's right, we have no more trips leaving the rest of the year. It's time for us to do the land thing. Time to get our land legs back, work on our golf games, plan our ski/snowboard trips, work off all the Polaris Supreme meals we took in throughout the year or whatever else it is we do during the off season.

On behalf of myself and the crew we thank O.T.R.'s Lon Mikkelsen and Mr. John Esler and all else who participated this year on their 10 day trip and to all the many anglers who fished with us this year. 2 yellowfin 12 yellowtail and limits of mahi. One stop shop on the dorado in the morning and very encouraging sign of yellowfin in the afternoon, just could not get a school of tuna to stick to the boat. Excited to see what happens in the near future.

The 21st annual Eric Rogger charter arrived at Fisherman's Landing August 16, after five days with 18 anglers aboard Polaris Supreme. Owner-skipper Tom Rothery was at the helm. "Wow!  What an incredible day," wrote Tom August 12. "This albacore is in the cooler 76-degree water.  It wants to bite wide open. Can't say enough about how much fun today was catching big fat jumbo albacore. They tired our anglers out. By the end of the day only a few fishermen were still standing.  Chef Pedro fixed a spicy teriyaki albacore lunch that was fantastic.  For dinner he served some delicious veal chops. Today was just a great. This is what albacore fishing is supposed to be like." John Lindsey of Newport Beach won first place for a 41.4-pound albacore. He took it with a sardine on a Mustad 2/0 94150 hook on 20-pound Blackwater fluorocarbon leader, 20-pound P-Line, an Accurate 197 reel and a nine-foot rod of unknown make. "He fought hard," said John. "He fought for 20 minutes."
Cole Pearce of Huntington Beach was second, for a 36.4-pound albie, and Brian Harnack of Culver City took third place for a 36-pound albacore.

37 anglers, 10 yellowtail, 18 bonito, and 48 rockfish. We will be at the dock for the next few days while our first real weather rolls in.  We are online till the end of December. Make those reservations.

What a brutally slow morning. We drove around until 2 pm. and had only released one 190 lb., and four 50 lb. tuna. It was beginning to look like we were going to miss. Then we found the boomer sonar school of cows. They bit full speed, eight going at a time for two hours before they slowed down. Here is the result of those two hours. Scott released a 185 lb., and kept a 180 lb., 187 lb., and 231 pounder. Bob released a 180 lb., and kept a 210 pounder. Al released a 170 lb., and kept a 210 lb., and a 211 lb. tuna. Craig released a 170 lb. and a 185 lb. tuna. Roger kept a 160 lb., 170 lb., and 180 pounder. Sheridan released a 180 lb., 185 lb., and kept a 187 lb. tuna. Tom released a 175 lb., 195 lb., and kept a 228 pounder. George released a 180 lb., 190 lb., and kept a 213 pounder. So what was a bad day turned into an awesome day in just two hours. It was so fun. We had to hang up our jock straps and sun visors today and change into warmer apparel. It was a little cool, breezy, and started to get choppy late. Lunch was stuffed bell peppers with marinara sauce. Hors d'oeuvres were sushi, sashimi and corn dogs. Dinner was New York steaks. One more day to fish.

Captain Ryan Bostian called in with the Coronado Island Report. We have had phenomenal fishing at the Coronado Islands for the past week now. Yesterday we had 217 Yellowtail 12 to 28 all of them the nice grade fish. Today we had 123 Yellowtail mixed grade. We had 90% good grade and 10% smaller grade. They are biting the fly-lined baits really well. They are also biting the Yo-yo really good too. Come on down to Seaforth Sportfishing and go fishing with us.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-08-2016 Good evening Supreme fans. We departed nice and early this morning on Brad Bogart's 6th Annual 2 day Tuna Charter. The crew worked double time to get the boat untied sooner than normal to get Brad and company out on the water and fishing ASAP and we did. We left the dock with a fairly set game plan and within a couple hours that all totally changed. Just shows you how things can change at the drop of a hat. On our way out to our intended destination, we happened to stumble upon a school of a really nice grade of yellowfin tuna that wanted to chew good. It was change of pace fishing and catching this 30 lb. grade of tuna that we haven't seen in some time. It's a bonus when you get to change your plans for the better. We spent the rest of the afternoon on these very manageable schools until it was dinner time. Tomorrow should fair out the same way with hopes of this fish sticking around and making a day of it. The guys went to bed after a nice prime rib dinner and a few less fish tags on their belts ready to get back at it in the morning. Check in tomorrow to see how we ended up. I can't close this report out without giving a huge thank you to Vernon "Paddy" Burke and his Simpitico crew for an epic 5 day trip. These guys hung in there with 5 days of trophy style bluefin fishing and we know they are taking home some sore arms and backs to the great state of Texas. They say everything is bigger in Texas, well not your bluefin tuna boys! We're already looking forward to seeing them back next year for another week out on the water. Polaris Supreme Trip Report 07-22-2016 Good morning everyone from the bridge of the Polaris Supreme. We are certainly holding our heads high after yesterday's action. With a little bit of a scratchy couple of days prior, the switch turned on and it was nothing short of a day that everyone hopes for. The morning pick was nothing to complain about, but right at lunch time, the galley was a ghost town. It was all hands on deck. The grade of fish was a touch on the smaller side to start with some bonito mixed in, but we stayed persistent and fished off the junk. As the afternoon transpired, the size of the yellows just kept getting bigger and bigger. It was a picture perfect yellow bite. Breaking fish, breezers, shiners....surface iron, yo-yo, fly line, dropper loop. We just couldn't miss. Just shows the reward comes when you stick with it and fish hard. The grade of fish was a 15-20 lb average with a handful of stand out 30+ pounders. All and all it was an amazing day out here. We're off to a little bit of a slow start this morning, so we'll just patiently wait til they decide to wake up and get on the chew.
