Captain Mike Pritchard checked in with an final wrap-up from the Tribute out of Seaforthl.  Today we had 27 bluefin (1 shy of limits) 2 yellowfin (first of the season) and 16 yellowtail for our 14 anglers today in flat calm weather.

Polaris Supreme returned to Fisherman's landing June 4 after her first three-day trip of the new season, with 24 anglers aboard. Yellowtail were plentiful and many were released. Some bluefin tuna of up to nearly 33 pounds were also caught. Owner-skipper Tommy Rothery reported pleasant sea conditions and nice weather.

"We were way down there,below where everybody else is fishing," said Tommy. "It was a little rolly at mid-day. I don't know why."

Rick Yokley of San Diego won first place for a 32.4-pound bluefin.

"He took me around the boat three times," commented Rick. He said he fished a sardine on a 2/0 ringed Super Mutu hook, with 30-pound fluorocarbon leader and 65-pound Spectra backing on an Avet MXL 6/4 reel.

John Brown of El Cajon was second, for a 32.2-pound bluefin, and Paul Cheak of Benecia won third place for a 31.4-pound bluefin tuna.

Capt. Mike Pritchard called from the Tribute with this update. "Just outstanding fishing on those Yellowtail. We are done, full boat limits for our 31 passengers. Very, very good kelp fishing here. Now we'll go looking for some Tuna, hopefully we'll find some.

Sept. 14

Umm, hmm. Not sure how today was. Well, we never saw a school of fish today but we did catch fish all day long for the most part. I look over at the chart table at my fish count and it looks pretty good. Just short stops all day long for tuna and dorado. Never drove for too long before stopping the boat on fish so the day wasn't great but it could've been a lot worse. Everyone on board had a great time today and caught there share of fish so I have to say that it was a success. An absolute fun, great group of guys for myself and the crew. My first time with Brad and his group and I have to say they were great. Thanks guys, let's do it again. The weather was fine today. A little breezy but comfortable none the less. We'll be at the dock tomorrow bright and early to make a quick turn around on an 8 day trip.

 

Captain Ryan Bostian checked in this evening with an update from “The San Diego” out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay! Today we had 34 passengers catch 7 Bluefin Tuna (20 to 55 pounds) and 12 Yellowtail. We had several heartbreaks on 75 to 120 pounders. Please bring a 25 to 30 pound rod as well as a 50 pound rod. Tuesday Dec 4 looks to be the best weather window for those folks looking to fish with us.  If yellowtail are unavailable we will target cod in 180-400 ft.  Before anyone freaks out, this picture was taken a long time ago and was on a Comercial boat fishing in legal US waters.  Come prepared for yellowtail and bottom fish.
