wilmington Fishing Report 2024

This is the launching of the Polaris Supreme after our Haul out. We hauled out at Shelter Island Boat Yard and all though it was my longest ever it was definitely the least pain less. Thank You Guys in the yard, And Girls in the office.

Good evening from the bridge of the Polaris Supreme. We departed this evening at 1600 on our Ocean Tackle Research 16.5 day charter. It's really nice to have this group of guys back on the boat.  With Charter Masters Lon Mikkelson and John Essler having run 10 day charters for well over a decade, they decided to step it up this year and chase the big cows.  This group is certainly well experienced in pulling on big fish, so it's gonna be a great time for them and the crew as well.

                Today we had a little bit of a late breakfast, followed by quick little wahoo seminar and did some mellow tackle rigging.  The weather is fair, not a total flat ride, but it's bearable. Heading downswell is usually never bad.  The rest of the afternoon we just spent catching up with the guys, doing some boat chores and eating some good food.  Tomorrow looks to be pretty much the same schedule, so check back in then.  For now, this is Team Supreme checking out.

Today was tough for the first 3/4's of the day looking for 30-40 lb. yellowtail and we only picked up a 1/2 dozen. by late afternoon we bailed out and went for the 20 pounders and had excellent time winding up our yellowtail fishing for the trip. Tomorrow we will be strictly concentrating of Dorado and any tuna we might find. The weather is still spectacular. Thanks, Tommy and crew

We spent our last day looking at school after school of albacore. A very good sign of no biting fish. Frustrating? Yes. Oh well. That's just how it goes sometimes. A very good trip in all. Thanks to everyone on board and to the charter master Wayne Martin with Catchy Tackle lures. We'll be rolling back out tomorrow on another 5 day trip. Stay tuned.

Captain Ryan Bostian called in last night. We just got in from our Coronado Islands Yellowtail trip. We had limits of Yellowtail for our group today. There are a few different schools of fish. Most the fish are 10 to 15 pounds. The fishing was very good today. YoYo jig and drop loop was hot. In the afternoon the surface fishing picked up. The San Diego is online everyday. Polaris Supreme Trip Report 07-30-2016 All I got to say is what difference a day makes. Holy cow what a great day fishing yellowfin tuna! We had a blast as you can see by the pictures they were boiling in the corner and it was deep blue beautiful water and everybody was happy! Fun fun day great fishing and beautiful weather and now we are off to another adventure for tomorrow! Thanks for tuning in the Polaris supreme crew.

A slow morning, a productive afternoon. We gave Benitos Island a thorough check for not much to show for. Same old looking at fish that won't bite. We made the run down to Cedros for the afternoon. We eventually found the jumbo size yellows and fished them till almost dark before it shut off. We're going to run up tonight to fish dorados and yellows and tuna in the morning. It's steak night tonight and they're calling. See ya.
