14 Anglers, 23 Yellowtail, 47 Bonito.  Tomorrow’s trip (Nov 13) has been cancelled due to lack of reservations.

Nov. 6

Well today wasn't at all what we expected. Last week it had been great yellowtail fishing in the zone we were in but for whatever reason most that fish wasn't around today. Famous words of Steve Loomis, "only one things for sure and that's that things will change". So true in life but especially true in fishing. Things will always change whether it be for better or for worse. Unfortunately today it was for worse. That's why you can't base your booking a trip on last year or even 2 weeks ago. Oh well. We caught a few nice yellows today and lots of other species we saved for meals later on in the trip because they'll be tasty. We're now heading south. We're going to start fishing first thing tomorrow fishing for D, all of the above.

Passenger Mike Payne brought a whole bunch of crab with him. I'm not sure exactly what kind of crab they were. They weren't king crab but the next best thing. Basically it was all you can eat because when I had all I could take down there was a lot of it still available. Delicious. Talk to you tomorrow.

Hi friends. Not too much to report today. Things seemed a little different today as that big fish had their noses in the mud for the most part and we never tagged a fish over twenty pounds today. That smaller fish made their presence known but that's not really what we were targeting today. Oh well, I think the guys needed a break anyhow from their awesome day they had yesterday and with that, we're going to take a break from the tuna fishing scene and we're headed to a different area that we think will be holding some yellowtail and dorado on kelp paddies. We'll be there first thing in the morning and we'll report back to you tomorrow. Take care and wish us luck.

Started where we found fish yesterday, it had slid up and out. Found big Bluefin right away, hooked one and lost is 15' from the gaff. Chased Yellowfin most of the day, managed only 2, but we were happy to capture those. Offshore again tommorrow and it's a new day!!

Fishing was absolutely phenomenal! If the last two day were great, today was even better. We had a good morning bite and then topped off the trip with an afternoon bite that went well into the dark. The tuna were biting the kite and anything else we put in the water. All fish ranged between 175 and 260 pounds. All anglers had a shot at them and a couple landed two. We did however stop to replenish our energy with some of Pedro's great food. For lunch we had tuna with a red sauce and ravioli on a bed of spinach with a cream sauce. Sounds like a weird combo, but boy did it taste good together. And dinner was a great roasted Cornish game hen with all the veggies and potato on the side. In addition to Pedro, I have to say our crew has done a fantastic job. They really work well together. And of course Lon and his group were a delight to have on board. And by the conversation in the galley, they are all planning on returning to this trip next year. Lon is going to open it up so if you are interested call Susan in the office. There will be a couple of spots. And on that note we are heading for home in excellent weather. We will be at the dock Sunday morning. Come down and see this great catch. Meet Lon from OTR. "Today we went offshore you know we have some political stuff going on at the Coronado Islands," said Ryan Bostian captain of the San Diego. "So we are fishing offshore for the time being. It looks like our timing was pretty darn good. Today we went out there and caught 15 Bluefin tuna and 13 Yellowtail. It's nice to be able to go out there on a 5:30 to 5:00 trip and catch exotics like Bluefin tuna. We had one really good shot at them. They were boiling on the corner.

"Most of our group today were beginner fishermen. If you are looking to join us for some offshore fishing our next Open Party trip is next Thursday. This Thursday we will be fishing Open Party, we will be on out offshore schedule. That means a 5:30 to 7:00 trip. The ticket price is $115 which includes your Mexican fishing license. We saw a good sign of Bluefin tuna. It seemed like every kelp paddy had a few Yellowtail on it, but we're mainly fishing the Bluefin out there. Some schools bite, some do not, but there are certainly plenty of them out there. If you'd like to join us please make reservations at 619-224-3383."

Captain Ryan Bostian checked in this evening with an audio update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay.  Today we fished at the Coronado Islands.  The offshore action has been too inconsistent.

Today we had 14 anglers catch 24 Yellowtail (10 to 20 pounders).  They were biting the surface iron pretty good.  Fly-lined sardines also worked well on 25 pound test.  You should bring a yoyo outfit too.  We also had 21 Bonito today.  We also had some Calico Bass action.
