watts bar lake Fishing Report 2025

Fishing was excellent today. Most of the tuna were 70-125 lbs. they started biting in the gray and continued just until dark. We released all of them except Al kept a 197 lb. tuna and Craig kept one that was 187 lbs. We also had a few wahoo mixed in. Weather is gorgeous. We are going to give it a try again tomorrow. Lunch was Chili Colorado, hors d'oeuvres were shrimp, crab claws and sashimi. Dinner was tuna Baja (that's a tuna fillet split and stuffed with avocado and crab meat with a sweet teriyaki ginger sauce to top it off).

Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome back to the website of the Polaris Supreme. We're sorry we've been apart for so long but you guys didn't want to go fishing so we had to do other things. Here's a recap of what we did the last few weeks... Jed went to a Slayer concert in Vegas and won a bunch of money. Jed always seems to win lots of money when he gambles. I don't know why he just doesn't do that for a living. Either he's fibbing about the money he makes or he just really loves fishing. Gunny hung around and fished his local lakes a lot after flaking on Jed in Vegas. Shawn had some big plans on getting a new place and a new car while he was off but came back to the boat with neither so he probably had the most fun of us all. Or maybe it was Gringo because he spent his time where he does, Cabo. Tommy and Susan did what they always do which is work, work, work. Mostly in the office but they saved a little bit of time for pleasure mostly around the river. I spent my days either at the boat helping with various projects from minor fixes up to helping the mechanic replace a piston in one of the engines. I also did some work on my golf game which still stinks by the way. And Mark lost one pound while we were off! One pound! Way to go Mark.

But we're all glad to be back out and that's because it's the Lon Mikkelsen and John Esler 10 day trip! Things are always just a hoot out here on the Lon Mikkelsen and John Esler 10 day trip. Lots of return customers out here and a handful of fresh ones too. I love this group. I do. Anyways the boat is running in tip top shape and we're all fueled up and baited up and everyone is currently sleeping with there belly's full of prime rib as I write this on my watch. Fishing sure did sound poor out here the last few weeks but things sound like they're on the upswing as the Polaris Supreme rolls south. Not sure we'll do any fishing tomorrow as we need to keep her rolling down so the plan for now is to have breakfast in the morning and spend most of the day getting all our tackle in the best of shape. The weather just couldn't be better. Flat calm gorgeous without a cloud in the sky. Beautiful! Sweet dreams all.

Polaris Supreme Trip Update 09-28-2019 We had a nice day on the Wahoo with a few good grade tuna and a little grouper thrown in. The fishing started around 1 AM in the morning on mostly small yellowfin tuna and continued on until after daylight. Their is definitely a lot of pulling and jerkin going on with that small grade fish but not a lot of tagging for the amount of fish were landing. The weather has been giving us some serious grief. Last night it was up to and exceeding 20 kn. Mid day it slowed down to where we could troll around and it wasn't too bad but by sundown it was snorting again! It looks like we're going to have 2 to 3 more days of this. I guess this is us paying for those two beautiful days traveling down. It's not too bad on the anchor but trolling around isn't too fun early in the day and late in the afternoon. The guys are hanging in there and looking forward to tomorrow. The Polaris supreme crew!

The Voyager returned this morning with 13 Bluefin Tuna and 5 Yellowfin Tuna. They landed a couple of monster Bluefin, with the largest weighing in at 298 pounds! Congratulations to Captain Todd and the passengers and crew of the Voyager.

I have yet one more opportunity for someone to jump on with us on a great charter. This trip is a 2-day trip fishing Thurs. and Fri. June 19-20. This is a very light charter and only fishes with 12 or 15 people. If you are able to go, you might find yourself becoming a permanent part of a very special charter on a regular basis. Hello Supreme Fans, Today was our first day of fishing after two days of travel. We spent the morning trolling around for Wahoo which seem to have lock jaw. However the tuna wanted to bite, but they were not the grade we were looking for. So right around lunch time we made a 2 hour move which paid off for us. It was game on! biting Wahoo and tuna until first call for dinner was made. The grade of the Wahoo was excellent many fish were well into the 40 lb range even some pushing the 50 lb mark. What a way to end the day of fishing. We plan to stick around here tomorrow and try for these great quality Wahoo again. Also we still have a few spots available on our next 10 day. WOW!! What an incredible day!!! This albacore is in the cooler 76 degree water. It wants to bite wide open. Can't say enough about how much fun today was catching big fat jumbo albacore. They tired our anglers out. By the end of the day only a few were still standing. Chef Pedro fixed a spicy teriyaki albacore lunch that was fantastic. For dinner he served some delicious veal chops. Today was just a great. this is what albacore fishing is supposed to be like.

Conditions at the islands are improving very fast. We saw a couple of schools of yellowtail today and landed one. Excellent red fishing on some well rested stones.
