Captain Ryan Bostian called in with an update from “The San Diego” out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay. Today we fished offshore and saw very good sign of big Bluefin Tuna.
We caught 13 Bluefin for our 22 passengers. The fish are between 50 and 70 pounds. So the quality is very nice. They are not biting full speed yet but we did see some amazing schools today. I would call today a very disappointing day. We had The Rocks to ourselves today after a 3 day rest and I thought we were going to get um but it was not to be. 0 wahoo. 0. Not even a short biter. We trolled for 4 hours for nothing. I think what I'm trying to say here is we didn't catch any wahoo. We caught a few handfuls of yellowtail in the morning before the sharks took things over and after realizing there were no wahoo to be had we went offshore and looked for a kelp the rest of the day to see if we could get 1 that way or a bunch of Dorado's but that was not to be either. The fishing today stunk. Everything else today was lovely though. The weather today was really nice. The sun was out and the seas were flat. The food is always great out here and the scenery was lovely as well. We're working our way back towards home now to extend our fishing time for the trip. We're going to top off on those beautiful yellowtails tomorrow and spend our last couple of day
s hunting the bluefin tuna.

4 bluefin 4 yellowfin 14 yellowtail. We looked at bluefin all day, they were just in a funk. Tomorrow is new day.

Ryan Bostian checked in from “The San Diego” this afternoon with an update from Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay. The Bluefin Tuna are 20 to 120 pounds. Please make sure you are prepared. The Yellowtail are 5 to 10 pounds. Please bring one light rod and one heavy rod. A light rod would be 25 pound or 30 pound test. A heavy rod should be nothing less than 40 pound outfit a 50 or 60 would be better. The Bluefin are biting on a flat fall jig. A perfect out fit for he flat fall jig would be a Talica 12 filled up with 65 pound spectra with a short top shot of 80 pound fluorocarbon.
Today we had Captain Cameron running the boat. He had a very respectable day offshore in a crowded ocean.
FISH COUNT: 56 anglers caught 2 Bluefin Tuna and 52 Yellowtail.

65 yellowfin tuna (15-25 lbs) 129 purple skipjack aku tuna. The skilled bait fisherman with a 20 lb setup and #2 hook was hooked up all day today.
