The morning started our ok. We scratched yellows for about 4 hours and kelps patties. Little sign of dorado. As the day progressed it got tougher with few patties. Overall it was a slow day.

Our weather is still great. Tomorrow we our on our way to do some Island fishing. Wish us luck.

Captain Mike Pritchard called in at 10 PM last night with an audio wrap up from the Tribute out of Seaforth Landing in San Diego, CA. We had steady action all day on our 12 hour drift. We had fish hanging nearly all day long. We ended up with 17 Bluefin Tuna (70 to 90 ponds) including a 133 an a 150 too. We had some Epic Battles and fun fishing for our group today.

Weather took a turn for the worse. Today it was darn right sloppy looking for tuna. Although there was fair signs of 25-35 lb tuna, it wasn't what we were looking for. We were on what little sign there was of 200 lb tuna most of the morning, but it didn't want to bite. Scott caught and released a 110 pounder and Tom lost one well over 200 lbs. One other boat picked up two over 200 lbs., otherwise that was the only sign of cows seven boats had for the day. The water has cooled off quite a bit. Otherwise there is still plenty of bait around. We are going to bust a move tonight. We will be traveling two more days. Oh yea, lunch was bar-b-que beef, hors d'oeuvres more sushi and sashimi and dinner was Chilean sea bass in a mango salsa with fresh jalapenos and cilantro. Man that was good. I had two helpings myself! Thanks!

The Ranta Charter started off fishing yellowfin tuna with a decent little score on school sized fish ranging from 10-20 pounds. Most of the fish were caught on the flylined sardine with 30 pound test and a 2/0 hook. We also had as handful of troll fish that came off of green and black zuker feathers. The next day we sought after some quality yellowtail between 20 and 30 pounds. Sadly, these fish didn't show like we hoped they would have. We saw a couple small schools of fish that came up and boiled in the chum, but nothing would stick with the boat. Fish were being caught on flylined sardine, yo-yo jigs, and everyone's favorite technique, the surface iron. We managed to pick away at some of these fish in the morning before calling it quits and moving on in search of a better bite. After hearing reports of the yellowfin bite picking up, We decided to make a run to the grounds to get in on the action. We arrived mid-morning with high expectations, as a couple other boats in the area had some big scores off big schools of yellowfin. It didn't take long for our dreams to turn to reality as a four way trolling hookup turned into a wide open bite. They were biting anything that was thrown in the water for a solid hour until most of the passengers had their fill pulling on these tuna, that averaged 15 pounds. We had a couple more stops for not as much success before pointing the boat towards something new. The last day of fishing was spent offshore looking for kelps, but dirty water and 20 mph winds made it hard kelp finding conditions/ However, we managed to pick up a few nice Dorado as well as a couple more yellowfin to add to our total. This was a great trip with some awesome people, a couple a which had their first experience out here fishing saltwater. Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-10-2016 Well we didn't quite have the day were hoping for. But everybody had the chance to catch a couple fish throughout the day. And of course the guys had fun. Between what we caught yesterday and today I'll call this a Great trip. It was really nice to see a good grade of yellowfin tuna around San Diego! We will be heading into the dock and unloading our catch tomorrow morning at 7AM. Thank you Brad and Dan for bringing a group of great guys out for a couple days on the Polaris supreme, and we hope the business keeps doing well. We will be taking a few days off and doing some boat work, see you out for our eight day charter coming up in about seven days! Looking forward to get down south. You guys make sure you're down at the boat by 7 AM we want to leave early! The Polaris supreme crew!

The San Diego checked in with us today. 

62 Yellowfin, 27 Dorado, 34 Yellowtail. Anglers changing their baits often had most of the bites.

Awesome fishing once again for these butterball Yellowfin. 110 Yellowfin and 8 Skipjack for our 24 Angler’s today in some of the most epic weather of the season.

Good afternoon everyone reading. It was a turn around day today. Everything went smooth. We departed on our annual "Lets Talk Hook Up" 4 day trip this afternoon with a full load of passengers. The bait thing went smooth today as well. Good looking bait for us today. We're thinking we'll have no bait issues this trip unless we run out catching tons of bluefin but we welcome that. That's the best problem to have out here. It sounds like a slow day today in the bluefin grounds. I'd rather it be slow while we're at the dock then when we're out fishing though. We'll see what happens tomorrow and take it from there. The weather now is lovely but the weather forecast appears to be less then good. Let's hope they're wrong about that one. It's just about time for our tackle seminar followed up with the prime rib so I have to go.
