07-13-2013 Polaris Supreme Trip Update.

Wow What a great trip Drew and the boys had with Joe and Mal's gang. Good going guys! That was one of the most impresive catches of 40 to 50 pound Bluefin I have seen in a while. Oh ya thanks a lot for putting the pressure on us to produce more of the same for Billy Stephens Group. Just kidding we are looking forward to the challenge. The reports from the four boats in our group that fished the morning sounded just like the schoole Drew and the gang left bitting. It was full speed all morning. I don't think any of us are going to sleep well tonight. May be if we count Bluefin coming over the rail thet will help, or not. Going down for prime rib. sea ya tomorrow.

Captain Andrew Viola called in today at 10:33 AM with update from the Pacifica out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay.  We returned this morning from a 1.5 day trips.  We had good action yesterday on the Bluefin Tuna.  We had a total of 45 Bluefin Tuna.  We had two Bluefin over 300 pounds (356 and 353).  We also had three Bluefin Tuna over 200 pounds.  Then we had about 12 nice fish weighing in between 80 and 180 pounds.  Late in the day we found a good school of 30 to 40 pound fish.   We had about about 25 of this nice fish.  It was good action right before the sun went down.  Good fishing and good weather.

Next few trips are overnights going for Yellowfin and Dorado.  Our next Bluefin trip departs on Monday night.

UPDATE: I just talked to Andrew and the 356 pounder is a boat record.

Jodie called in with this report for the Apollo. "We have an Open Party 2 Day Trip for July 4th & 5th. We will be leaving from Fisherman's Landing on July 3rd at 10:00 0'clock. We will be targeting Bluefin Tuna. They are starting to bite at 125 miles. If you'd like more information or want to make a reservation 619-221-8500."

Today was a nice mixed day. The day started off with 3 Tuna hungry Grouper on the big gear! they wanted the rocks bad, but our anglers wanted them more! Later we were able to catch some Wahoo and bigger Dorado on Kelps. A well rounded quality day down south. We are looking forward to what tomorrow brings, Team Supreme

Captain Mike Pritchard called in this afternoon with an update on the fishing conditions for the Tribute. We now have US limits of Yellowfin Tuna a total of 325 and 6 Bluefin Tuna. Captain Ryan Bostian checked in tonight with an update from the San Diego. Today we had 35 anglers catch 9 Bluefin Tuna and 1 Yellowfin Tuna. We are going to stick with offshore fishing thru at least Saturday. We are keeping close tabs on the Coronado Islands but as of today the islands have been slow. Tuna fishing has been far from wide open but we believe the potential for a big hit is there. Fishing changes very fast. Don’t be a part of the “Day after” crowd. Pick a day, Pick a boat and go. No Passports required for offshore fishing.

Started where we have been catching Vermillions to find they were not in the mood. Moved to an undisclosed location and found very willing XL size Lingcod. Managed 2 to the boat and lost a few more. Good fun!!!

107 yellowtail 1 halibut. Steady action on yo-yo jigs and dropper looped baits. Few fish on flylined baits as well. 20-30lb test for flyline 30-50lb for yo-yo/dropper loops.
