Hi friends. Not too much to report today. Things seemed a little different today as that big fish had their noses in the mud for the most part and we never tagged a fish over twenty pounds today. That smaller fish made their presence known but that's not really what we were targeting today. Oh well, I think the guys needed a break anyhow from their awesome day they had yesterday and with that, we're going to take a break from the tuna fishing scene and we're headed to a different area that we think will be holding some yellowtail and dorado on kelp paddies. We'll be there first thing in the morning and we'll report back to you tomorrow. Take care and wish us luck.

Hello Everyone, Today we spent the day targeting the larger Tuna, Yellowtail, Wahoo, and Grouper. We were able to pick the 20-30 lb Yellowfin Tuna for most of the day. There was also some nicer Yellowtail caught on occasion as well. We caught a few Wahoo, but the volume was not around today like we wanted. We are headed up in hopes of big Yellowtail tomorrow.   We had a bumpy ride last night.  It was windy.  So we didn't make the best of speed which translates to not having a whole lot of time to fish our last day when we were coming from so far away.  We found our edge pretty quick after daylight and we were getting a few strikes on small tuna but like I said, we didn't have a lot of time to fish it.  We were able to follow it up the line for a couple of hours getting the occasional strike before we had to call it a day and call it a trip.

 

 

  

The weather has been getting progressively nicer throughout the day and now we have a pretty darn good ride.  Everyone is doing what you do on travel days.  We had a nice fish taco lunch and last time I was in the galley the passengers were taking it way back and were watching the  90's classic "Deep Color" movie staring Tommy Rothery and the Polaris Supreme.

  We'll be in bright and early tomorrow and we're going to be turning back around on another 5 day trip.  Tommy will be going home and I'll be taking her out.  Gunny is hanging in there strong like the Marine he is and we're hoping he'll be back within a month.
           

We finally got settled in here late. The fishing was good, with a lot of action and a lot of variety. Tuna was the main game in town, they started small but eventually cleaned up into a nice 18-35 lb average. Mixed in with the Tuna were some Yellowtail, Grouper, and a Wahoo. A nice mixed bag to start off with.

39 pass. 195 skipjack tuna, and 2 yellowtail. Very good action in very good weather.

Captain Mike Pritchard checked in with an final wrap-up from the Tribute out of Seaforthl.  Today we had 27 bluefin (1 shy of limits) 2 yellowfin (first of the season) and 16 yellowtail for our 14 anglers today in flat calm weather.

Hi friends. We departed this morning on Paul Hess' annual 5-day adventure with a great load of folks and a good load of bait. This is one of my favorite trips of the year not only for the excellent company but Sandra brought homemade peach/blueberry cobbler for us to munch on. That's what I'm talking about! I'm going on a diet just so be able to eat it whenever I please. We'll see how it goes.

Anyhow, we headed out to an area that one of our spotter plane friends saw sign of that school-sized Bluefins we found 9 schools, they were as boat-shy as they come. We managed to land 28 of those fish up to 25 pounds. We will be in search of the 55 to 75 pound fish. If we were to stay here tomorrow in this upper area, we'd run out of bait with so many short stops.

With that, we're heading further south in search of those beauties that we've been catching the last couple of weeks and we'll be there first thing in the morning. Wish us luck and we'll report back to you tomorrow evening. Take care.
