Captain Mike Pritchard called in from the Tribute this afternoon. We have had very good Yellowfin Tuna fishing. We have over 130 Yellowfin Tuna and a lot of Yellowtail and Dorado.

Fishing today was somewhat subdued. We gave Guadalupe a check to see if the tuna have arrived without much luck. We picked up 5 yellow fin and spent most of the day rocked by home guard yellowtail. Our weather is gorgeous in the lei of the island. We will be back offshore tomorrow for some hot kelp patty action. It's first call for dinner tonight. Sauteed shrimp with tomato, garlic and parsley. July 31

This morning we had a good drift. We drifted along for a few hours catching mostly 40-70 pounders sometimes with as much as 5 going at a time. Unfortunately at around 9:30 am it stopped biting. We tried to be patient but it was done. After that it was a very slow day for the whole fleet. Most of the fish went down and the schools we found the rest of the day didn't want to play. A little before dark they got back in the mode and we had a nice stop on which started off 12-18 pounders and then turned into 30-40 pounders. That's it for this trip. We're headed back to the dock and are scheduled for a 6:00 eta. The big guy Tommy Rothery is taking the boat out for a 6 day trip and Richie will be coming back out too so the reports should get more entertaining. I'll be going home to hang with my lovely wife and needy dog. Take care all.

Captain Ryan Bostian called in the evening. Today we had 61 Yellowtail. The fishing down there at the Coronado Islands is phenomenal. We have been catching between 50 and 178 Yellowtail per day. They are biting on all techniques: Yoyo fishing, Fly-lined Sardines, and Surface Iron too. We have had some great fishing this morning. Including nice sized lingcod and trophy reds. We are also getting some action on the bank rockfish too.The SAT TV is ready for the football games and we look forward to seeing who wins in today's playoff games.

July 22
  He made the right move.  Tommy that is.  We came, we saw, we conquered.  I told you we'd be at The Island today.  It was good.  We had good fishing.  We arrived after breakfast, and found a little something  to work with but we could tell it just wasn't it.  So we looked around and we found "It".  Premo's.  Premiums baby and lots of them.  We had one heck of an afternoon on premium grade yellowtail.  When we say that we mean a mid to upper 20 average.  Slug yellowtails.  You never get used to it either.  Every time someone brings one over the rail it's like, "dang those things are beauts"!  And that's all I have to say about that.  A very full hold of slugs and then some.

  Once again we can not get one to bite the surface iron.  The past few trips have been prime surface iron conditions.  We have the Big Banana out(the long pole) but we can not get Banana crazy.  Weird.

  

We're going to try and get our tuna on the next couple of days.  If we happen to bump into some more YT's along the way then ok.  That'll be alright.  The fleet for the most part has been off the mexican yellowfin the last several days and we're going to try and get back on them.  It's sounds like there has been an impressive amount of fish being seen up above in the U.S.  It doesn't bite on a consistent basis yet but that's soon coming.  It bites fairly often but I have a feeling the fleets in for some very good fishing in the near future.  I'm not necessarily trying to get you to book, but come on, book.  There may be a spot or two left.
        

The San Diego checked in on March 16, with 25 yellowtail, 6 bonito and  100 rockfish catches.  Yo yo jigs have been the top producer so far but every school has boiled on our chum.Encouraging sign of fish for 1/2 the day today. Couple decent shots on all the popular presentations. We will try again tomorrow.

Captain Mike Pritchard called in this morning with an audio update from the Tribute out of Seaforth Sportfishing in San Diego, CA. We ended up with 11 Bluefin Tuna around 50 pounds. The weather has been great and we are seeing a very good sign of fish.
