poudre Fishing Report 2025

Today we we picked at the quality Tuna we have been after. Many successes before the sharks took their share. The fish were on both live bait and chunk bait. It was nice catching them on the chunk because we were able to use big hooks and heavy line. As opposed to small hooks and light line.

Pictured here is a neat looking Pilot Fish. Really cool looking blue fish with black stripes. They hang out with sharks waiting for bits and pieces from a kill to float back to them. Also pictured is a delicious sashimi spread prepared by chef Mike!

Drew Henderson docked Polaris Supreme June 11 after a three-day trip. He fished offshore kelp paddies to find a good catch of small yellowtail, a bluefin tuna and an albacore. Dale Goss of Lakewood got the bluefin and first place, as his tuna weighed 31 pounds. He enticed it with a sardine on a 2/0 Hayabusa hook. He fished with 30-pound Big Game line, a Daiwa H 40 reel and a seven-foot Sabre rod. Manvel Miuasyan of Van Nuys was second, for a 21-pound yellowtail, and Scott Tucker of Riverside was third, for a 17-pound yellow. Josh Evans of San Francisco got the albie. He trolled a cedar plug in natural wood color to land his longfin.

Capt Mike Pritchard called in a wrap up from their 1.5 day trip, the fishing was great we ended the trip with 121 Yellowfin Tuna and 68 very nice grade Yellowtail. We had good weather and flat seas, looks like we have more Yellowfin moving up. Aug 26

We had a pretty good day of yellowtail fishing today. It wasn't wide open and it wasn't slow either. Just some steady picking through out most of the day. It didn't rain so that was cool. I'm really drawing a blank on what to write here so I think I'll keep it short. There's nothing significant to tell you all about. Mark didn't wear the dunce helmet today and nobody fell in the water or told a good joke. Just some steady picking of the yellows. We're heading back to the bluefin grounds to give it another try at those beauts. The weather rolling up is just fantastic and we're expecting more of it tomorrow. Oh yeah! The seared bluefin we had for dinner tonight was very very good. It was paired with edaname, these super tasty green beans and some just delicious tasting mashed potatoes so there you have it. Sweet dreams all.

The last few days we have been inshore mixing it up fishing Rockfish the first half of our .5 day trip and Calico bass the second half once the current starts to flow. The results have been amazing with limit style fishing of Calico bass in the 1-4 pound range. Most are 16-18" fish. I honestly haven't seen it this good in years. Through the fast action we didn't get many photos, but here is one of out Furuno DFF-3D filled with bass. 

Hello Everyone, Today we fished for trophy Yellowtail and Wahoo. The yellows were biting good but most were able to get int the rocks, or get eaten by waiting sharks. We did manage to land some trophy Yellowtail as well as a single large Grouper. There were less sharks later in the evening so we were able to land more Yellows at night. There was very little Wahoo sign as we were driving around, we did manage to troll up one. We stopped fishing around midnight and started traveling up. We will see if we have time to fish tomorrow or the following day, depending on the speed we are making. Will Report again tomorrow , Team Supreme

Captain Ryan Bostian checked in from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay, CA. Today Cameron Cribben drove the boat and we had 24 passengers catch 11 Bluefin (25 to 60 pounds) plus 20 Bonito. This time of year conditions are changing fast and we need to be prepared for multiple types of gamefish. This afternoon some bluefin tuna moved into the yellowtail grounds. Hello everyone, Today we wanted a Yellowtail topper, and a yellowtail topper we got! By no means wide open, but enough yellows to keep everyone busy for a half a day. The hot ticket was the famed blue and white 6x yo yo iron, tried and true for years and still holding strong today. All and all a nice day of yellowtail fishing to round out a great fall 7 day variety trip. It was really something catching Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, Dorado, and Yellowtail all in one trip! Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, so after our great Yellowtail topper we pointed the boat northbound to San Diego.
