Yesterday was an absolutely fantastic day. We had great yellowtail fishing on 30-40 lb grade with the big ones pushing 45 lbs.

In the afternoon we came across a big school of smaller grade yellowfin and released most of them. Weather is still flat clam and gorgeous. We also got a handful of Dorado and saw a swordfish. Chef Tommy put out a great lunch of Alaskan King crab and lobster, and for dinner we were served a slow roasted pork loin with roasted macadamia plum sauce.

Very delicious. This morning we are on our way to fish big tuna, and our weather is still fantastic. Thanks for tuning in.

Captain Mike Pritchard called in tonight with an update. We finished our trip with 26 Bluefin Tuna, 91 Yellowtail and 2 Dorado. There were some better scores on the Bluefin Tuna if you were in the right spot. So things are looking good out here. We have a trip leaving tomorrow night.  So we fished today on our open party 1.5 day trip.  What a morning.  We got on a school early.  In the dark.  I saw them on the sonar, then stopped, then looked out the window and there they were, swimming around under the lights.  So I dropped a bait in the water and a minute later I had a tuna on board.  So I woke up the crew and the passengers and we commenced fishing.  Before the sun came up we were finished.  I mean we had our daily limit of yellowfin so we passed the school off to another boat and moved on.  The reason we were able to get it done so quickly this morning was because the fish were small.  Unfortunately that's what the plan was all along.  The good grade tuna schools are missing here in 3 day range at the moment.  we've seen this before.  It's no surprise during a tuna season.  I don't believe it's over.  Just temporarily down.

 So we wanted to get our tuna out of the way early and then concentrate on finding dorado kelps, but we never found too much for dorado kelps.  The wind blew too.  It was perfect weather this morning, but by lunch it was blowing a good 25 knots.  Not comfortable.  Thing went back down though.  It didn't stay windy.  It's nice now.

 We get in tomorrow and we're going to take a couple of days off so we'll see you when we see you.  And by that I mean write and read.
   

With good signs of big tuna on the lower banks - perfect for our Mag Bay trips - we have some late openings due to cancellations.

Our first trip departs Mag Bay on Nov 27, returning on Dec 4 (Tuesday to Tuesday), and will fish 6 full days right in prime big fish waters.

Unbelievable visuals today as 30-80 lb bluefin devoured everything in their path ! A well placed popper or surface iron was the bait of the day. 21 bluefin Tuna 2 yellowtail.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 07-08-2016 Hello and good morning anglers. We departed today on Bill Stephens annual five-day charter with 23 happy anglers. A quick stop at the bait receivers netted us a nice load of sardines. We are currently heading south in good weather and looking forward to starting fishing tomorrow.
