Wow what a crazy sky this evening here along the Baja coast! Yesterday we departed on our annual AHI 7 day charter. The AHI charter has been around for 23 years and going strong! Today the charter spent the day rigging up, relaxing, and unwinding to a great selection of music, complete with a special outfitted sound system here aboard Polaris Supreme for this charter. It is a truly enjoyable atmosphere here, and the weather could not be better to go with it. We are all rigged up and ready for our first day of wahoo fishing tomorrow morning. Wish us luck! Polaris Supreme Update 11-14-2013

Whales, porpoise, turtles, seals, frigate birds, boobie birds, marlin, and of course yellowfin tuna. All were sighted in the last 24 hours from the deck of the Polaris Supreme. We found the fish today, or they found us. Either way, it wasn't as productive day as it could have been. Not a barn-burner, but it showed us what potential tomorrow might have. Exceptionally calm and balmy weather continues. The term "grease calm" comes to mind. Our weather is forecast to remain like this for at least another day, and the only drawback is there is not enough wind to utilize our kites.

The crew is too busy to update you, so this is your mystery guest writer once again. The crew is re-rigging us in anticipation of another round with a nice grade of tuna. Actually, dinner tonight will be fresh seared Ahi served with all the the accompanying goodies. One of the rewards for landing a few of the right kind.

Cocktails are currently being consumed as fish stories are being told down in the main salon. Time to relax, and get ready for tomorrow's adventure. Life is good ... talk to you tomorrow...

"We fished at Cedros Island and we fished on offshore kelps," said Polaris Supreme skipper Drew Henderson July 28. He'd just ended a five-day Catchy Tackle trip with 24 anglers, and was weighing the catch at the Fisherman's Landing scales.
"We got yellowtail, dorado and some non-biting albacore," he added, "and; wow!" The albacore he hung on the scales pushed the numbers up to 41 pounds even. "That's the best one so far this season," I remarked. Henderson high-fived angler Al Brandenburg, who grinned and brought his fish over to the side for some photos. Brandenburg said he got the big longfin on a sardine and a 2/0 Flyliner hook. He used 30-pound Izorline on a Trinidad 30 reel and a Calstar 700 M rod. He won second place in the jackpot. Harvey Rosen of Benecia bagged a 43.6-pound yellowtail on the dropper loop to win first place. "He fought like a bulldog," said Rosen, who used a sardine on a 4/0 Mustad hook with 60-pound Izorline XXX mono, an Avet 4-2 reel and a Seeker 6460 glass rod to beat his fish in ten minutes. Don Spitzer of Petaluma was third, for a 33.8-pound yellowtail. Chartermaster Wayne Martin hoisted a dorado he said was typical of those encountered on kelps.

Sunday, September 9th, 2012

Hi friends. We woke up today to a lovely Sunday brunch complete with Belgium waffles, bacon, eggs, and bloody mary's. I didn't have any. Sad face. After brunch, we were treated to all of nature's glory with rain, lightning, and thunder. Some of the strikes were less than a mile from us. Amazing. Anyhow, after a carne asada taco lunch and more cocktails that I didn't have, we made it to the fishing grounds and enjoyed a couple of drifts on a beautiful grade of yellows up to twenty-five pounds. They were biting that yo-yo jig real nice but our bite was short lived. After the sun had set, we sat down to a prime rib dinner and lots of red wine that I didn't have and we finished off with pecan pie and ice cream. I had some.

So that was our day in a nutshell. Hopefully the fish aren't as crabby tomorrow and we can get down to business. Wish us luck and we'll hit you up on Monday night. Peace out, homies.

So far this year we have had absolutely phenomenal yellowtail fishing as well as a better chance than ever, in the history of Southern California to catch a bluefin over 200lbs! We are excited to announce we have multiple openings on trips that will be targeting these big grade of yellowtail, nice yellowfin and trophy size bluefin! Today was mainly a travel day. We have a strong current working against us so we only had time for a couple drifts. However we did manage to land some 15 lb Yellowtail bottom fish. Our ETA for tomorrow is 530 to the dock.

Here we have Chad. Chad loves a good Monday bend. Especially when there is a big Guadalupe Yellowfin Tuna on the other end!

Hi friends. Well, our move paid off to go kelping out in right field. We hit a few kelps throughout the day and after weeding through the shaker yellowtail, we were rewarded with some quality yellowtail and dorado currently chilling in the RSW. The gang had themselves a real ball and we're hoping with the good weather forecasted, we'll be able to get on a few schools of tuna tomorrow and finish up the Joe Beck/Bob Vance trip with a bang. We're traveling up the line to hopefully drift up some squid later on tonight. Wish us luck and we'll chat with you tomorrow.
