Hi friends. I missed you all, a lot. I'm back to tell some stories to y'all and inform you of our activities. We departed this morning on Tom Chaparro's 6-day adventure with his closest friends and family. Tommy and myself have given Drew and Matt Damon, and Ali some time off and we've also brought along a new galley assistant and her name is Daneen. We call her D and she's awesome and a pleasure to have on-board. Hard-working, funny, and happy to be here. She left such a great impression on me, I actually cleaned up the salad station after I served dinner and anyone who knows me, knows that I make a mess preparing salads and usually never clean it up. I couldn't help but chip in for the new girl. She's rad and all of our passengers are going to be thrilled to meet her and The Supreme Team just keeps getting stronger.

Anyhow, enough about our stellar crew, what I will talk about that's stellar is our bait, our weather and our attitude. We're pumped to point this beautiful boat on a southerly course and get down to the local Bluefin grounds. We did have one stop during Chef Shawn's prime rib dinner and landed a handful of BF during the melee. Good times!

Anyways, we're out. We'll be up 05:30 hours tomorrow morning trying for some Bluefin and we'll see what happens. We'll report back to you tomorrow. Wish us luck and good night.

    We finished up our trip today hunting bluefin.  They weren't very friendly today.  In fact they were down right mean.  We saw a tremendous amount of fish today but very few would bite our lines.  All day long we were stopping on schools and we have 22 fish to show for it.  All of them were nice ones with the biggest going about 60 pounds.  !st and 2nd will be easy, figuring out 3rd place in the jackpot may take a while.  Alot of 45 pounders to weigh I think.

    We're headed in.  Tommy's taking the next one out, and I'll be on board.

Hi friends. A wrap-up of our full day and a morning down here is one that makes any angler giddy. One reason and one reason only can draw out the best and worst in some anglers -- wahoo. We had some of the better wahoo fishing we've had in a few years that I can remember and as the day progressed, they just kept getting bigger. We had ourselves a really fun day down here and in the afternoon time, we had a pretty decent sign of that better tuna, boiling mere feet from the boat rambled up some excitement in us.

Two problems. One, was the lack of current. Two, was the sharks. We had to get creative to hook one and you had to, as Drew puts it "leave your purses in your staterooms" and pull on those fish. Drew had to eventually lead by example and landed a beauty of a tuna on a scad chunk. Inspirational. Although, we only landed one tuna of size that evening, the wahoo bite from the hours prior really had spirits high. We tried to repeat our catch this morning but it was clear that we did a good job of catching the ones that were here. Hopefully, a few more nests move in for our code boat to experience the same type of fishing we had.

At around 1000 hours, we had to begin our journey home that will take us a full day and a half. Normally, I'd be somewhat pumped for travel days but I finished Suzanne Collins "The Hunger Games" too quick (my goodness, Katniss, love Peeta!) and the second book of the trilogy isn't on the boat (damn you, Shawn!). Kinnicut has the third but I hear that the third one is lame. Ugh, rather than reading a good book and napping, I'll just have to do some work to pass the time.

With that, our weather was beautiful all day but is now a little windy and bouncy. Nothing crazy, it's no bronzing weather though. Can't have flat calm and sunny for a week straight, I guess. We'll report our ETA tomorrow night. See ya.

P.S. Before I go, I have a couple of things that I learned today, thanks to Gunny.

1) Gunny is deathly afraid of crocodiles and alligators.

2) Every black man in horror movies dies first. Gunny has strong evidence to support this. I had no idea.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-27-2016 Thanks again for checking in. We arrived nice and early to the tuna grounds to get ourselves in the best position for the days work. Shortly after first light we decided where we wanted to get things going. It started off quite slow as the conditions weren't just right. We lacked current which is not favorable to catching fish so it became a little bit of a waiting game. That gave Chef Mike his time to get breakfast out of the way. Not too long after we got mobile and did some looking around and finally started checking out some different schools and began scratching away at a few bluefin. They were in the 18 lb class which is not bad at all. As the day progressed, we found the spot that looked the best and posted up, getting a solid chum line going, got the balloons out and settled in. The fish slowly started popping up with some bluefin in the 70 lb class hitting the deck as well as Marilyn landing her first ever balloon fish and first yellowfin at about 70 lbs. Congrats on that one!! The rest of the afternoon was a steady pick on that beautiful grade of tuna. You couldn't ask for a better way to end a 3 day trip. As soon as we landed our last 2 nice bluefin, one being Theresa's 75 lb "dream fish", it was time to pack it up and head home for San Diego. Us here on the Polaris Supreme would like to say thanks to Charter Head Bev Seltzer and her team of ladies and gentlemen for joining us this year and looking forward to seeing them next year on the 2nd annual Sadie Hawkins 3 day Charter. Captain Andrew Viola checked I with a wrap-up from the Pacifica out of Seaforth Sportfishing.  Our first trip was a success..  We had a mix of Bluefin and Yellowfin Tuna.  Including action on 50 pound Bluefin Tuna. We did have a few bigger models too.

We are happy to be back at it and we look forward to fishing with you this Summer.

Sep. 8

We woke up this morning on the drift. I heard Tommy doing the stop and go on his watch early in the morning meaning he was seeing schools. He woke the rest of us up bright and early and it didn't take too long before we started hooking fish. They were the 15-18 pound bluefin and they weren't biting as well as you'd think they would judging by all the fish around the boat. We kept drifting though trying the patient mode. It's a lot easier to be patient with non biting fish when the other boats aren't getting stops. After a while and a few handfuls of BFT we gave up on these fish and went searching for some new ones. It took a while but around lunch time we found a nice big fat kelp and it was an aquarium underneath. Good viewing and catching on lot's of different fish from small throwback yellowtail to small tuna and tuna up to 32 pounds and lots of dorado. Yes it's that time of year. The water warmed up considerably in the last week or so and with that came schools of yellowfin and now the dorado in numbers. We'll take um. Crowd pleaser's is what they are and you know us, we like to please crowds. After a couple hours fishing there we went searching for something new unsuccessfully so we ended up back on our kelp and caught some more dorado and a few more tuna. We're now headed for the yellowtail grounds and everyone is fat and happy and we're planning on some good pulling on big yellows tomorrow.

I ate the escolar again substituting it for the prime rib in the fajitas we had for lunch today. It was smooth sailing John and I mean that in a good way. No problems down there. The fish isn't the best fish in the ocean. The flavor is great though the texture is a bit soft. Opening day for pro football so I'll leave you with this. Go Chargers! Let's do some competing this year. My Pad's couldn't do it so now it's up to you guys. Come on now!
