Hi friends. Thanks for nothing, Joey. We were really looking forward to those fresh flour tortillas and now, because of you, we are burrito-less for three days. Let me guess - traffic? Anyways, we just now (08:33 hours) dropped off Riddler, Tom, and the gang to board their flights and fly back home. We've taken Jeff along for the ride with us as a bargaining chip just in case we need to barter for the aforementioned flour tortillas or who-knows-what. Our weather right now is not very Cabo San Lucas, that's for sure. It's really not that bad but it isn't quite extreme sun and bikinis and margaritas weather. At the moment, we are making horrible speed so we'll hope to make that up along the way so that we're not arriving to the docks at 17:00 hours on Friday evening. Once we get closer to home, we'll send out a better ETA to the office.

On behalf of myself and the entire crew, we'd like to thank Tom P. for allowing us to go on vacation with him; especially me. I wasn't supposed to be here and he graciously took me aboard and after what I witnessed the past two weeks, I would've been very upset as to what I would've missed. Every time Tom brings the boys and heads out with us, things are just right. They're a very cool group and we do some fun things that we don't get to experience very often. So thank you, Tom, from Drew, Jed, Mark, Gunny, Schooler, Shawn, and myself; I miss smelling your fresh coffee in the morning as you roll up to the wheelhouse. I also miss RK and his banter with Mark and his humor. I miss B-Bo and his laid back style. I miss Hoolie and thank you for teaching me how to plank. I miss Scooch, a lot; I miss your knowledge to everything that is the ocean and I miss your lower back tattoo - we all do. And most of all, I (we) miss Cowboy. We miss your scent and everything that makes Cowboy, Cowboy. Grab Chugey and let's go bowling. We can hit the ceiling with the ball too, that sounds like a real gas.

Without sounding much more like the rambling idiot that I already am, thank you to Tom P. and the gang. Let's do it again soon, yeah? So that's all. The next couple of days will be filled with various cleaning and maintenance chores, playing Siskel and Ebert in the galley (my favorite movie today was "Dark Shadows" with Jonny Depp. It was funny, it was weird, it was sexy; it was classic Jonny D, baby!), and I'm sure Jeff and I will continue our game of "100 Skittles, 1 Dixie Cup" at some point. It's basically us standing at the ladder, taping a cup to the stern and trying to shoot Skittles in to the cup. So far, we're 0/100. Good thing we have spare time for me to perfect my "J" and make it rain. We're out. We'll chat with you manana.

It's late in the season, but Guadalupe Island is still holding and producing good catches of quality yellowfin tuna.

"We just returned this morning from another very successful Fall Guadalupe trip," said the report from the charter boat Apollo October 25. "This was another charter with 12 friends. We made good time getting to the Island and arrived at the south end around 9:30 am. There were good biting school size (25/40 lb) yellowfin tuna biting on the anchor. There were also a few schools of better grade (50/100 lb) fish to be found if one was willing to work for it. We were willing! We worked the Island for 4 days mainly targeting that better grade YFT and produced a beautiful catch of 127 Yellowfin tuna. The biggest was 108 lbs with 6 other fish breaking the century mark."

The good fishing at the island could go on until Christmas. It usually lasts until the water drops below 67 degrees or so. Old-timers tell stories about fishing yellowfin or bluefin tuna at the island when there was snow on the peaks. Guadalupe is the one destination that consistently produces yellowfin tuna of 50 to 100 pounds or more short of Alijos Rocks, another full day's cruise south.

Hi folks. Short day for Drew, Tommie, Mark, Jamie and myself as all we did today was drill zinc plates and tarp off the boat to prepare for the painters to spray the strontium on the bare aluminum today and the primer tomorrow. The vinyl lettering was applied to both sides of the bow and the stern today. From the looks of it, we've gone back to the old school font and color ...scheme. Instead of the lighter blue and orange which has been on the boat for the past six or seven years, the Supreme has gone back to a "royal blue" which looks moe like navy blue and orange. Things are starting to shape up and with the bait tank, bus stop and inside bulwarks hopefully being completed this week, we're looking forward to the end of our stay here in National City sometime next week.

Anyhow, short day for us today, an off day for us tomorrow for painting, and we'll be back at it on Wednesday for, you guessed it: more sanding. Take care and hopefully, everybody's Monday is treating you all kindly.

Hello Everyone, We just wrapped up our open two day trip. Local fishing has been really tough and was no exception on this trip. We hustled, got the boat ready and departed from San Diego quickly, so we could maximize our fishing time on this two day adventure. Although we got on the grounds very quickly and were fishing fast, it still was tough. There was a lot of searching, scouring, and moving around to try and find some action. Our persistence eventually paid off when we found a couple kelp pattys with some great Yellowtail fishing. It was wall to wall action. Just what the doctor ordered. Everyone had a chance to pull on fish and get introduced to the chaos that is offshore kelp patty fishing. Through the intense action we also managed to land a beautiful Dorado, that would later take jackpot. A very trying couple of days, however we did manage to piece together some great action for our anglers. Looking forward to next year! We depart on our Emerson and friends 5 day next! Hi friends. I bronzed today...again. I'm practically glowing, it's madness! I look like Oprah. Everyday of this trip has been stellar weather, and I've been bronzin' ever since the bait receivers, and I can only hope that we're not going to pay for it in a couple of days when we start making our way back to San Diego. We'll see. Anyhow, the fishing today was fair. It wasn't bad, it's just that we had high hopes for wahoo and they're still eluding us to this point. Matt Herrington, Paul Briscoe, Eric Kinnicutt, and Polaris Supreme first-timer Dean Harthorn were the lucky anglers to land a "hooter" today. Dean set the standard of size to this point. Dean probably runs about five feet tall (I mean no disrespect. Dean is one of the nicest dudes around) but the wahoo he caught today dwarfs him. Wait until you guys see the photos on the website when we get in. It's a great picture and Dean was pumped. Good things happen to good people.

Our day also saw lots of releasing yellowfin tuna, tagging a couple of nice yellowtail, and Glenn Briscoe landed a true bull dorado in the thirty plus pound category. G-Man, you're truly the man, G. After landing Glenn's fish, we made the decision to make a run to the inside to see if we can't locate some wahoo elsewhere. We'll check back with you tomorrow.

Oh yeah! Before I forget, Chef Schooler and Jamie are my heroes. For dinner, they prepared a perfectly cooked tri-tip (my favorite), pepper-roasted potatoes, and corn on the cob. On any normal night, I'd be pumped but then they finished it off with a warm brownie, vanilla ice cream, caramel syrup, and pralines. Now I'm super pumped. Between my bronze and my level of pump, I look like a plump Arnold Schwarzenegger. Life is good. See ya.

Captain Ryan Bostian called in with an audio update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in San Diego, CA. Today we had every intention of fishing for Yellowtail. We checked our usual spots and could not find any fish. The water rolled at the Coronado Islands. So we headed West and we ran into Bluefin Tuna. We say large schools of tuna in the 50 to 100 pound range.

We ended up catching 6 of these trophies (up to 65 pounds). They were biting on 40 pound fly-lined sardines. You might also get lucky on surface iron or popper action. We are going to be running Bluefin Tuna trips. There have been some fish caught up to 245 pounds this year.

14 bluefin 9 yellowfin 1 yellowtail 1 bonito. Saw enough fish to get a big hit but unfortunately they were not in the mood today. We did see more plus sized models in the mix. We recommend 40lb-60lb line for all techniques.

A DRIFT WE Will NEVER FORGET ! Today we went out with 6 passengers who ignored yesterday’s fish count and understand that fishing is more about spending time in nature than harvesting meat. After our 3 hour drift everyone onboard had either landed or fought and released a fish of a lifetime. Final tally was 7 bluefin, 6@ 110-150 and 1@65 lbs. please come prepared with a 25 lb rod a a 40 lb rod and a 50-80 lb rod. Today’s best setup was a 4oz. torpedo sinker rubber banded above a 2/0 circle hook on 50-80 lb.
