At this moment we are fishing for rockcod, however we are keeping our eyes open for game fish. Any day now Yellowtail will show up down there. The water is improving by the day, as soon as we see Yellowtail you will be the first to know. As of know bring your heavy sinkers, 12 to 16 oz. of weight, 65 or 80 lb. spectra, 2 or 3 hooks above your sinker. Excellent rockcod fishing right now at 300' of water. Like I mentionede earlier we are keeping our eyes open for game fish as soon as we see them we will let you know.

Stopped on a school of tuna large enough to catch 200 but unfortunately we hit them when they were off the bite. We managed to scratch 35 yellowfin on light line bait and poppers.

Keep Cool when it gets HOT and HEAVY! We had fantastic Yellowfin Tuna fishing today. They bit very well and grade was excellent. 15-25 lbs average with 35-40lbers mixed in. The only thing hotter than the fishing was the Baja sun. Pictured here is chef Mike bring water to crewmen Ben and the rest of the passengers during a hot bite. Here is my squid report regarding the 2 squid jigs I purchased at the Candy Catcher booth in Long Beach. Went out of Seaforth Landing on the New Seaforth Monday night. We were done in about 1.5 hours ... all the squid you wanted. Started off slow, but within 30 minutes it was wide open. I used the Candy Catcher gold colored 1.5 pound jig it was perfect. I like the action of it sinking compared to the longer jigs. I had both types and tried yours and compared to the other Monster jig. Your's did perform better when squid fishing was slow, but when it was wide, well you know the story from there. I did not lose a squid with your jig and fished buttoned down on my 2 speed. Robert

Today we loaded up for our annual AHI charter. We are headed south with Wahoo and Tuna in our sights. Tomorrow will be a rigging day.

Captain Ryan Bostian checked in with an update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay, CA. Today we had 27 passengers catch 116 Yellowtail. The Yellowtail fishing has been very good this year!

 All I can say is we tried.  The baiting went well last night and we arrived to cow town before sunrise.  Until 3:30 in the afternoon we didn't see much.  We fished hard though once again.  Most stayed at the rail.  We tried 4 anchor jobs, and a bunch of drifts but like I said, until 3:50 we didn't see much.  At 3:50 though things woke up but unfortunately it was short lived and we have nothing to show for it.  It gets dark so early now.  We saw 3 good spots of 200-300 pound tuna blowing out of the water and 1 really good sonar school of 50 pounders but we could get no reaction from them.  At least we got to see them.  It's better than never seeing them at all.

 I felt the vibe on board and I know the passengers want some action so we're going to try and deliver.  We'll be running up tonight and we're going to give "The Ridge" another try tomorrow.  We'll go for action and then we still have wahoo to catch.
