Polaris Supreme Trip Report 10-24-2019 We had another log jam today on the kelp patties. Another great day of fishing Wahoo and what a beautiful grade of fish! Some real beauties in their. They look more like alligators than Wahoo. They definitely act like alligators when you hook one. We also had a good hit on the yellowfin tuna again this afternoon. The grade of fish was more like 20 to 45 it wasn't all 45 pounders. But still a good grade of fish! Were finished up in the lower zone here and need to start working north. Stayed late today so we will probably only have a few hours of fishing tomorrow if any looking for some yellowtail up the coast. Weather is still epic. We also spent about a half hour today catching and releasing beautiful grade Dorado. We didn't keep any! Will check in with you tomorrow on our way home after a short try for yellowtail. POLARIS SUPREME TRIP REPORT 09-14-2020 Great weather today again. We had good Wahoo and Grouper fishing. Got to go Dorado biting. Good Day on the Water. The Polaris Supreme Crew!

"We released over 200 fish in our four days at the Rocks," said Polaris Supreme owner-skipper Tom Rothery September 6, after his nine-day trip with 20 anglers. "They were yellowtail and yellowfin tuna."
Rothery's anglers had just over half-limits of wahoo and near-limits of tuna, the best score so far this young fall season. Wayne Campbell of Huntington Beach managed a quick limit of 15, he said, on bait and 58-pound single-strand wire leaders.
Chuck Eiser of Rancho Mirage won the jackpot for a 106.8-pound yellowfin that chowed down a squid under the kite, using one of the boat's kite rigs.
Brent Hough of Palm Springs used a sardine and 50-pound line to take a 91.4-pounder and Simon Housman of Palm Springs nabbed a 74-pounder in just 15 minutes on a sardine and 30-pound line.

July 12

Like i said before, we were going to start our morning off tailing. Yellows that is and that's exactly what we did. The fish bit OK for an hour or so. They were mixed grade from 10 all the way up to 20+ pounds. Mid morning we headed offshore and had some pretty steady yellowfin striking. We even got them biting bait for a couple stops. On one we had 22 and the other 13! Those are our best yellowfin stops of the year. We kept heading south throughout the day striking them up but the further south we went the smaller the fish got and the windier the weather got. Around 6:30 we stopped on a jig strike and took a good roller and things went flying so with the small grade of fish we were catching and the unsafe drifting conditions, we called it a day. We're headed to Cedros to do some fishing on those big fat yellowtails we've been catching there and to get out of this weather.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 07-20-2016 Good afternoon everyone, Today we started out fishing off the central baja coast, in hopes of lots of large yellowtail and maybe even a Seabass or two. An early wake up call was in order to try for a premium sized yellowtail or Seabass. Unfortunately the fish had other plans. So we pulled the anchor and began searching for any sign of yellowtail. We were not able to find any breaking fish or breezers but the bait life around was astonishing. We worked bait ball after bait ball for nothing. After concluding that the conditions were not panning out we started working our way north. Spot after spot of scratch yellowtail fishing. However there were a few lucky anglers that landed some quality mossbacks. We worked at it till about high noon and then decided to head off shore in hopes of a boomer kelp patty or a biting school of tuna. Water is clean and our hopes are high, Team Supreme

The Ranta Charter started off fishing yellowfin tuna with a decent little score on school sized fish ranging from 10-20 pounds. Most of the fish were caught on the flylined sardine with 30 pound test and a 2/0 hook. We also had as handful of troll fish that came off of green and black zuker feathers. The next day we sought after some quality yellowtail between 20 and 30 pounds. Sadly, these fish didn't show like we hoped they would have. We saw a couple small schools of fish that came up and boiled in the chum, but nothing would stick with the boat. Fish were being caught on flylined sardine, yo-yo jigs, and everyone's favorite technique, the surface iron. We managed to pick away at some of these fish in the morning before calling it quits and moving on in search of a better bite. After hearing reports of the yellowfin bite picking up, We decided to make a run to the grounds to get in on the action. We arrived mid-morning with high expectations, as a couple other boats in the area had some big scores off big schools of yellowfin. It didn't take long for our dreams to turn to reality as a four way trolling hookup turned into a wide open bite. They were biting anything that was thrown in the water for a solid hour until most of the passengers had their fill pulling on these tuna, that averaged 15 pounds. We had a couple more stops for not as much success before pointing the boat towards something new. The last day of fishing was spent offshore looking for kelps, but dirty water and 20 mph winds made it hard kelp finding conditions/ However, we managed to pick up a few nice Dorado as well as a couple more yellowfin to add to our total. This was a great trip with some awesome people, a couple a which had their first experience out here fishing saltwater. Captain Mike Pritchard called in this afternoon with an update from the Tribute. We are having very good Yellowfin Tuna just South of San Clemente Island. There is a mix of Yellowfin Tuna, Skipjack, and Dorado. We have 180 Yellowfin Tuna and they are biting on everything. GOOD GRADE ! We knew something was different when we had been stopped for 20 minutes with 20+ tuna hooked and we still had not put one on the boat. After a couple hours of drifting and many “zing-pows”. We managed to land 82 (22-30 lb ) yellowfin. We also had a late afternoon skipjack riot for 138 fish.
