Good evening. We just finished up our day out here on the Bluefin grounds and the people are downstairs enjoying dinner and a shower right now. It was looking pretty sad there for a while there but just in the last few hours, we managed to salvage our day and made an afternoon of it.

Up until around the late afternoon time, we just got bits and pieces and right around our afternoon snack time, we got on a legitimate school and had a couple hour drift on 25-60 lb. shortfins and a few nice Yellowtail as well. Just before dark, we found a couple of other schools and we managed to pick off a few fish to round out the day.

So we're pumped up about our afternoon delight and The Mustache (Drew) has decided to stick it out here for another day based on what went on in the afternoon. We weren't the only boat to have schools float in the afternoon either. All the boats out here had the ocean come alive and it was a decent spread of guys out here in all different areas. With that, we're banking on these fish getting with it tomorrow, hopefully sooner rather than later. We'll see.

So that is all. Our weather is decent at the moment but all in all, it was a freaky weather day. At times today, we had 5 knots of breeze and at times we had gusts of 40 knots, no smoke. The sea conditions weren't all that bad but the wind was variable to say the least. With a favorable forecast for tomorrow, we're hoping for a banner day. Wish us luck, good night.

Hello Everyone Today fishing was slow. We spent the day offshore looking around for any warm water fish that wanted to play. Unfortunately we only were able to land a few small Yellowfin Tuna. On the bright side we have superstar pizza chef Joe Gigliotti aboard and today. He decided to grace us with his pizza talent. He whipped up more pizzas than you could shake a stick at with so many topping combinations that it would make the Poppa Johns R and D department have to work overtime, weekends, and holidays to even have a chance of keeping up. It truly seemed like the endless lunch, always finding room for one more slice, and another and another. Fishing was slow but the pizzas were coming in HOT and often! Starting to see some schools of this grade bluefin in our travels again. Make sure you bring a 40lb rod to go along with your 20 lb rod. Might be a good idea to bring some 4oz torpedos and rubber bands also. This 40 pound rod can also serve as a flyline rod if we get on a good biting school of yellowfin.

Good evening everyone, we're back!!!!  After 2 months of grueling boat work we are back on the water and couldn't be happier.  What's new with the crew?  Not much with most of the guys.  Jed got his captains license.  That's big news.  And I had a beautiful baby daughter in April.  That's big news too.  Mark's the same enjoyable goofball, Gunny's the same fish hunting fellow.  Schoolers still dishing out tasty meals and Gringo is back helping him out.  We also have some new crew members joining the supreme team this year.

We departed this evening on a 1 1/2 day trip.  We are pleased with  the bait we got because we lucked out and got a tank of sardine to go with a couple tanks of usable anchovy if need be.  Hopefully it will be because we run out of sardine with all the fish we catch.  The reports are fishy.  There's yellowfin and bluefin and yellowtail to catch if you find the right schools that want to bite and those are the schools we'll be looking for all day long tomorrow.  Weather reports are calling for some wind tomorrow but they downsized there forecast from this morning so hopefully it won't be too bad.  Time will tell.

Right now we're wrapping up our prime rib dinner and will be going to bed soon so we're all rested up for our big day tomorrow.  Sweet dreams and goodnight.


 

Once again we stopped on enough fish to fill up our fish hold 10 times. Unfortunately we only had 1 brief moment of biting fish. 2 bluefin tuna (40-50 lbs) 11 yellowfin tuna. Hopefully these fish get out of their funk soon.

Great boat, great crew, great food, great passengers, good weather, slow fishing. That's just the way it went down on this day and a half. We were in tuna mode trying for nice quality albacore.

We scratched 26 and some yellows and let go lots of flats. Descent amount of fish seen at times throughout the day, but they didn't climb on our hooks. Hopefully soon coming and more consistent. Next trip is a 5 day, so stay tuned.

"we're wrapping up our 1.5 Day trip," said Mike Pritchard from the Tribute. "We made the run down here 130 miles and we had very good fishing. We got limits of Yellowtail, 60 Yellowfin tuna, 35 Dorado & 10 Bluefin tuna. It was fun fishing, a lot of the fish were caught on surface irons.We had very nice weather with a slight breeze ths afternoon.
