Drew and the boys are doing it again. Wide open fishing on both Bluefin and Yellowfin in beautiful weather. They have been stopped most of the morning. Have a great day. Tommy

 Good evening everyone and happy Halloween.  Things didn't fair too well for us this morning at last weekends hot tuna spot.  You can tell it was a week closer to November because there were only 4 of us there compared to 15 of us there last week.  Anyways, like I said, things didn't fair too well for us there.  That doesn't mean the tuna weren't there though.  At least one of the boats there did well today.  We didn't have the patience for it today though.  At least not for the veal grade, so we took off at lunch time.  We took off in search of dorado.  And wouldn't you know it, things worked out.  We found three productive kelps this afternoon.  The last kelp almost being a fixer upper.  So it worked out.  We had a good day.  130+ fish day.  That'll do.

 So we'll be in for the week, and we're going to come back out here again next Friday.  We're going to bring along with us the Inside Sportfishing crew.  They want to do an episode so if that sounds like something you may be interested in, we'd love to have you.  And then after that we leave on a 10 day.  So if that sounds like something you may be interested in, we loved to have you then as well.
      

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-11-2016 Hello Everyone, Today we departed on our annual Ron Heil 5 day. The longest running charter on the Polaris Supreme! We are excited and proud to keep the tradition going. We cleared the point today at 1 pm headed south in search of fish willing and eager to bite. We will be in the zone tomorrow. The fall fishing season is on, as could be seen in the catch brought back from Alijos Rocks and The Ridge by Polaris Supreme owner-skipper Tommy Rothery, who docked his rig at Fisherman's Landing September 16 after an right-day trip. "Wow, what a great day!" wrote Tom on September 13. "We had an awesome morning bite on the Dorado; big bulls and cows. We took a break at lunch and Pedro prepared a Southwestern 10 oz. burger that was delicious. He really nails the menu with his creative spices and herbs. Back out on the deck, we had excellent fishing on the wahoo throughout the whole day. And then to finish up the day we caught some yellowfin tuna. It was just a great, fun day. Dinner tonight was a spicy ginger shrimp curry; another great dish. Our weather all day has been beautiful. I hear it's been crappy up above and hope it lies down before we start up the line." Jeff Theurer of Pismo Beach got the best dorado, a 44-pound whopper that will now be the season's best. "I got it in 15 minutes," he said, "on 40-pound line. This is my best dorado and the best on the boat this trip."
Chris Fitzgerald of Lake Elsinore won first place for a 70.2-pound tuna. He caught it with a sardine, he said, on a 3/0 Mustad hook, 60-pound P-Line on an Avet 5-2 reel and a Seeker Black Steel 6470 rod.
Wayne Campbell of Huntington Beach was second for a 70-pounder, and Bill Vogel of Oceanside won third place for a 62.6-pound Alijos yellowfin tuna. Jeff Camplese of Helena, MT took the best wahoo, a 55.4-pounder, and brought it into the lineup shot.

We started fishing in the dark and went full speed all day long on beautiful grade tuna 30-40 lbs. with several in the 80-120 lb. class being caught on the kite. We had several heart breakers with the sharks eating some of the big ones. The day was spiced up with a handful of wahoo. Our weather is absolutely gorgeous. Flat calm heavy overcast. We had a great day and are excited to try it again tomorrow. Thanks, Tommy and crew

We got a little bit of something throughout the whole day. Everywhere we went we got yellowtail, but no real bug hits. Our morning bite had great quality but not as many as yesterday. Our weather is still good because of the island. Tomorrow we will be in open water on patties looking for dorado, tuna and yellowtail. Great fresh yellowtail and shrimp scampi for dinner. This past winter the San Diego family lost one of its most beloved members. Mike Morrison known as “Iron Mike” was a dedicated regular who loved chasing bluefin and always kept positive outlook whether he caught one or not. Today his brother landed a 145 pounder and it had Mikes name written on the belly. This fish was one of 18 landed. The other 17 were 60-80 pounders.
