haulover canal Fishing Report 2025

Today was tough fishing. We were able to hook and land more fish today and they were all better grade. The fish today were also more eager to eat bigger line and hooks as opposed to the ones yesterday. Because of that we were able to put the wood to them and bring them to the boat quickly. We had some shark casualties but nothing too extreme. In fact the ones that were getting chased by the sharks charged the boat to try and evade them. So as long was we were ready with a gaff and able to steer the fish clear from the propellers and rudders we had some fish that came right in. Overall a tough but fruitful day. Wee will be looking for kelp's tomorrow targeting school sized Tuna and Dorado.

Our fishing took a big step in the right direction today. We landed 9 bluefin from 30 to 140 lbs. very good sign of 25-75 pounders. Come prepared with a variety of line sizes from 25-80 lb.

Hello everyone, Today there was a ton of fish both Yellowfin and Bluefin Tuna. However was tough to get them to stick. We did manage to land some of both species. The grade is great we just need that consistent bite. We will be trying a new area tomorrow. Will report again then, Team Supreme

The Endeavor out of Ventura Harbor Sportfishing returned from an Overnight trip with 18 passengers.

Aug 18

Today was a good day. We got into the yellowtail mid morning and it was game on till lunch time. The grade wasn't the best but it was good enough. 12 up to 22 pounds and all in between. We had the passengers save some tags for the bigguns though the common grounds looked dead so we traveled to new grounds and connected near the end of the day. Everyone had a few more shots at them before we had them wind um up so we could put ourselves in position to be at the bluefin grounds before daylight.

The weather today was great. Cold but windless and on a boat thats all we care about. No wind no sea. Shawn through out a kick but appetizer spread and we're preparing to eat a seared ahi dinner. Can't wait. Gotta go.

Mama Bear- Little Bear still has both feet planted on the boat and is doing great.

Well, we had a great day today. Everybody had a blast fishing lots 60 -100 lb. tuna. Pat Jaeger landed a 195 and a 213 pounder. Chuegy pulled in a 225 pounder. There were a couple more around 165 or so. We did stop at lunch for a delicious pork shank with spiced white beans and saffron pilaf. It was really good. And our weather is also good. So another wonderful day out here. Look at our schedule and find a trip that will work in your schedule and come out and have some fun.

I have three more fishing opportunities on the Apollo. Berkley will sponsoring three overnight Channel Island trips. These will be sea bass and rock fish type adventures. Its always nice to have great fishing to report about and I really wish I did but I don't. It started off looking great with a morning bite of the good grade Bluefin on the sea anchor but shut off after about a hour and a half. We spent the rest of the day catching a little here and a little their. All the components where their. We had 4 good to huge schools. Numerous poppers balls, stacks and bunches of fish, but it just never happened. The weather was great and Toms anglers worked hard at it. The highlight of the day was when Joe Gigliotti made his signature home made pizza for snacks. It was killer. As far as fishing goes this was just one of those days that make it all that much sweeter when they bite. Thanks for tuning in and we will see you tomorrow.
