Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-30-2018 We changed locations last night to some new country. It paid off very well! We started off the morning with excellent quality yellowfin tuna fishing 25-40 pounds. By 10 oclock we where looking for Wahoo the rest of the day and scratched fairly well! We have had good weather but this afternoon it is starting to turn. It looks like it's going to be choppy day tomorrow. Sea you then, let you know how it goes. The Polaris supreme crew!

We woke up to jock strap and sun visor weather this morning. Did some rigging and had roast beef in a portabella mushroom sauce for lunch. We had good success acquiring yellowtail and tuna for hors d'oeuvres and proceeded to eat them in the form of sushi and sashimi. Dinner is coming up in a few minutes, halibut in a lemon butter caper sauce. We are going to consolidate our sardines and swing by the bait grounds to pick up a tank of greenies. We will see you tomorrow on the tuna grounds.

We have only 5 spots remaining on our June 1-6, 5.5 day trip! This trip is limited to only 18 passengers and is filling quickly!! Trip departs at 6pm May 31st, and returns 6am on June 6th. We will be fishing Cedros and Benitos targeting Yellowtail and calico bass. As well as fishing offshore for those early season bigger bluefin tuna! Ticket cost is $1300 per person. Hi friends. We had ourselves a pretty eventful day for a rather slow day of Yellowtail fishing. I'm not going to lie; I think the entire crew had visions of hundred-plus fish drifts and not looking at breezers of non-biting fish, but rather breezers of snappin' fish. Well, the Bluefin worked their magic on our favorite Yellowtail hole and the Yellowtails acted just like Bluefin all day. We saw multiple breezers and we'd be lucky to capture two or three fish. We did have one nice drift this morning but for the most part we just picked and scratched to make a score. But, we did what we had to and made a day of it.

Other notable events of the day: We started bronzing at 0622 hours, it was sunny and toasty out for the majority of the day. We also caught and released about a dozen Black Sea Bass, we had a nice snap on the Calicos, Stephen Pistone took a sabiki rig hook to the finger, and Mark did everything that you would expect of Mark. I'll just leave it at that.

Anyhow, we're on our way up to finish off our trip at the Bluefin grounds and Chef Shabba and Shawn are kicking out sesame seared Ahi with fried rice and veggies. Tasty. Had an insane stop on Long range size Yellowfin. 3 hours later we ended up with 11 fish. Lost as many. Had 7 going at once, for our 6 anglers! Good stuff

 Well, our best fishing today came from the zone where all of our offshore fishing has been this year.  No surprise there.  I wish we would have stayed in that zone longer, but for the past week, anyone on there last day of there trip has been complaining about there speed going up.  "Oh it's soo slow", "we're driving through mud", "make sure you give yourself plenty of extra time", etcetera, etcetera.  So we planned on that.  We fished with our watch today.  But that never happened.  We never did slow down.  Unfortunately, by planning on it, it put us in this years desert zone.  The zone with no fish.  Beautiful water, no fish.  But things have to change right?  Right.  Just not today.  Oh well.  At least our first 2 days were good ones.  Oh, and the weather was good.  That always helps.

 We'll be in tomorrow and Tommy will be coming back out for 5.  I'm going home.  What will I do?  Spend every minute with my beautiful daughter except for the 4 1/2 hours spent on the golf course.  I will miss writing to you folks though.  I enjoy telling you what's on my mind.  I sugar coat nothing.  See you all in 5 days.
     

Captain Ryan Bostian checked in tonight with an update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay. We had a couple good shots today. Our 25 anglers ended up with 20 Yellowtail and 20 Rockfish.

Come on out fishing we us now. We have been having light loads and the weather has been great.

Today was another example of the fact that when targeting Bluefin, we are playing by their rules.  We stopped on fish all day and managed to land 15 fish from 30 to 70 lbs and one 45 lb Yellowfin. Staying at the rail and fishing either a 40 lb flyline rig, a 50 lb colt sniper or sinker rig was the best bet today.  Come out to enjoy the ocean, be prepared with your tackle.  Keep your fingers crossed that you are here when they let their guard down a bit is the name of the game.
