hey everyone, fished the coast today around Santa Monica with some friends. it was cloudy and a bit chilly but honestly, perfect for fishing! we started around 6am, had to be quick since the sunrise was so early. caught a bunch of mackerel with my trusty old rod and some live bait. had my abu garcia reel spooled with 20lb test which was super helpful. we ended up with about 10 macks between us, all around 1-2 lbs. released most of them but kept a couple for dinner. the wind picked up a bit later but we were too pumped to care. can’t wait to grill these bad boys up tonight! happy fishing! 🐟
