POLARIS SUPREME TRIP UPDATE FOR 11-02-2020 TO 11-07-2020 Well what have we been up to the last 6 days? We departed early on day zero, the Second in good weather and with a great group of passengers. The group is a composite of Jim Holeman's group , Stan Vanderburg's , Clarence Cole and friends and a few others. All solid fun anglers. On departure we loaded up some great looking sardines we hope to last 10 days. Stan spent the day passing out an unbelievable amount of give away's and setting up a prize of a rod and reel for the first tuna caught over 30 lbs and a reel for the the first wahoo caught on a home made lure. The weather was beautiful . Day one was a travel day spent doing our usual fishing seminar, Stan passing out more swag, rigging, eating and napping in good weather. Day two started off looking for kelp patty's holding Dorado and Wahoo. After a morning with no luck we deployed our own FAD ( Fish Aggregating Device) with a satellite buoy. Late in the day we got into good fishing on 12 to 40 pound Yellowfin tuna that saved the day. Day three wahoo fishing was pretty good and the tuna was in the 12 to 15 lb. range with no sign of the 20 to 40 lb. one's. Still great weather. Day four we where hoping for a repeat on the wahoo that didn't happen. Saddened by a Sukey morning we busted a move to check out our FAD. Holey Mollee 48 Hour's soaking and the thing was loaded with Dorado! We spent an hour or so catching and releasing before heading to some new tuna grounds. Some of you are wondering why we keep so few Dorado now days? Well you see 2 Dorado count as 5 fish in your over all fish count and most anglers only keep a couple if any at all choosing to catch and release. Arriving at the tuna grounds to slow fishing we where stoked to see it go wide open at dusk making it a great Tuna Dorado day in Slick Calm Weather. Day five making a big move today! Scratched a few Tuna this morning and hit the road trying to beat the massive storm hitting California. Weather is still OK. Will check in in a few days. Benn making the most of the situation and not dragging passengers offshore to catch nothing. So we have been fishing the Coranado Islands for all you want cod each day and heading offshore in the PM finding very little. Our larger boats went out today catching a handful of Yellowfin so that's a move in the right direction. Thanks!

YELLOWTAIL ARE BITING!!! SAN DIEGO on a 3/4 day trip scored 48 yellowtail along with 41 Sand Bass,18 Barracuda & 2 Calico. PACIFIC VOYAGER from a 2-day trip sacked 131 Yellowtail, 17 Sand Bass & 15 Barracuda. NEW SEAFORTH on half day trips took in 7 Yellowtail, 123 Baracuda, 3 Halibut along with some Bass, Sculpin & Rockfish. Twilight trips still getting some giant Squids. Captain Ryan Bostian checked in with an update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay, CA. The water rolled at the Coronado Islands and the Yellowtail have stopped biting. We had 5 Bluefin Tuna today. We had 3 fish around 75 pounds and 1 fish weighing in at 120 pounds and the biggest fish was a 130 pounder.

The fish are biting fly-lined baits but they are really biting the Poppers. Make sure you bring you 50 pound out at a minimum.
We have seen some fishing pushing 200 pounds but we have not caught one of them yet!

Crew trip today! 5(crew) 50 Yellowfin Tuna 5 Bluefin Tuna We have a 1.75 day trip leaving Friday morning with a light load. With the great fishing that’s been going on, we have made this next trip a definite run!

  Today was just one of those days for us.  Well, I was controlling where we fished so I guess I just had one of those days.  No, we're a team out here, WE had one of those days.  We zigged instead of zagged.  We turned left instead of right.  During our zig, we found two kelps that were truly loaded with nice looking tuna according to my machines, but darn-it if they wouldn't bite.  We have to figure they were kelps that got fished the day before and needed more time to recoup.  During that time, there was a small area of kelps being found that were holding Dorado and mostly small tuna, but they were all taken by the time we made it in there.  We tried to pick off one into the east and then north but we never could find much before we ran out of time.  We scratched out a bit more than 50 mixed fish today so it wasn't a total loss.  We just had one of those days.

  The weather right now couldn't be better.  We deserve it.  We had a windy few days to start out the trip.  All and all it was a great trip.  A great group and good fishing.  We'll be home tomorrow and back out for another 5 shortly there after.
  
  As of now I'd pick Mark to win the "Biggest Loser" competition.  Chef David made an amazing lasagna last night and Justin had a big ole piece while Mark ate a salad.  Who would of thought our hill- billy, poor grammar speaking Mark "the crow" Clark would pass up lasagna for a salad.  Next thing you know he may exercise during his way...  OK, I can't even finish writing that it sounds so ridiculous.

This is amazing we have fished 6 days out of 6 days. We fished 4 days in California and 2 days in Mexico and caught over half a dozen different game species. We wrapped up today in California fishing Bluefin and Yellowfin with good success. The top 3 fish at the scales will be bluefin. Thanks Tom Chaparro and gang for a great trip.
