Captain Ryan Bostian checked in this evening with an update from “The San Diego” out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay! Today we had 34 passengers catch 7 Bluefin Tuna (20 to 55 pounds) and 12 Yellowtail. We had several heartbreaks on 75 to 120 pounders. Please bring a 25 to 30 pound rod as well as a 50 pound rod. Captain Mike Pritchard called in at 10 PM last night with an audio wrap up from the Tribute out of Seaforth Landing in San Diego, CA. We had steady action all day on our 12 hour drift. We had fish hanging nearly all day long. We ended up with 17 Bluefin Tuna (70 to 90 ponds) including a 133 an a 150 too. We had some Epic Battles and fun fishing for our group today.

Polaris Supreme docked under owner-skipper Tom Rothery's hand June 26, after a five-day trip with 24 anglers for yellowtail and albacore. Tom weighed the fish at the certified scales at Fisherman's Landing, where a 48-pound yellowtail took top honors.
Terry Emmert of Douglas, WY had the first-place winner. "I got him in about 15 minutes," he said. "He just kept pulling and pulling, and he kept getting into a stringer of floating kelp. He's my best yellowtail ever." Emmert said he fished a sardine on the flyline, using a 3/0 Mustad 91450 hook on 40-pound P-Line. He had an Okuma 20 two-speed reel and a Seeker Black Steel 6470 rod, wrapped by Bill Boyce. Michael Giardino of San Pedro was second, for a 43-pound yellowtail, and Mal Wagstaff of Douglas, WY was third, for a 36.2-pound yellowtail. Three generations of Pattersons were aboard, and they posed with their fish. Liam Patterson of San Jose is eight, and he goes to Santa Teresa Elementary School, where he practices karate. Liam caught some big yellowtail, and he also got and posed with a 24.4-pound albacore, which will serve to start off this season's tally for the largest fish of that species.

Liam's dad Lane stood in with the boy, as did John Danis and John Patterson, also of San Jose and from the Patterson family.

Hello Everyone, Today we spent the day chasing Fin Whales and bird schools, there were very nice schools of Yellowfin associated with them. Tuna ranging from 8 lbers to 40lbs! there were defiantly some nice fish mixed in. In addition to that there were some Dorado around. Lots of life making for an exciting day. We will be chasing these fish again tomorrow, wish us luck. Will report back then, Team Supreme

21 yellowfin tuna 7 skipjack. Had enough fish under and around the boat to catch 200. Unfortunately we never found a school that was easy to hook. We will try again tomorrow. Starting to see some large sardines. Please bring some size 2 and 2/0 hooks.

Friday April 19

Great day of fishing today. One over 200 lbs. and a couple real close.

We had 20 tuna and 12 wahoo. Weather has backed off and is gorgeous.

We are looking forward to the last couple days of fishing.

Andrew Viola called in with a mid morning update from the Pacifica out of Seaforth Landing in San Diego, CA.

We have half limits of Bluefin Tuna and a couple of nice Yellowtail and Dorado on the boat. We are stopped on a school right now and hoping to round off the count.

The Pacifica is back out tomorrow night for a 1.5 day trip fishing offshore for Tuna and Yellowtail. Departs at 9PM.
