cherokee lake tn Fishing Report 2024

Capt Ryan Bostain from the San Diego out of Seaforth Landing called in a report after going offshore today, we had a nice mixed bag of fish today. We had 50 anglers on board and ended the day with 60 Yellowtail, 38 Yellowfin Tuna and 5 Bluefin Tuna. The Yellowtail were in the 7-12 pound range and the Yellowfin were 15 - 35 pounders. We got a school of larger Bluefin Tuna and only managed to put on the boat around 50 pounds. We are going to continue offshore, if you want to come out bring an assortment of live bait set ups. You\'ll need size 2 - 2/0 hooks and maybe some smaller sliding sinkers. See you on the water.

The San Diego has finished their three quarter day trip on Monday with 2 Bluefin Tuna (30-40lbs) and 5 Yellowfin Tuna.

The San Diego will be fishing OFFSHORE through FRIDAY 6/17. These trips are limited to 45 people and reservations are required!  Recommended tackle for these trips is a MINIMUM of 50# monofilament for the big Bluefin! Live bait and poppers have been working well.

The El Gato Dos returned from a 3/4 day trip on Sunday with 1 Bluefin Tuna (124lbs) and 1 Yellowfin Tuna.

Polaris Supreme Trip Update 11-02-2018 We finished up the trip with a bang today! The morning started off hooking a couple fish in the gray light and then immediately losing them both. After about a three-hour lull of hooking nothing we got very busy for about five hours. Again it was the beautiful grade we have been catching And posting pictures of of course. I'm sorry to say that that's all I have to show you today is more pictures of awesome yellowfin tuna. We didn't have many to choose from because we didn't even get a chance to start taking pictures until we had around 20+ on board, we were so busy. One thing I've been reluctant to talk about is the fact that there have been almost no shark interactions! I think we lost a total of maybe eight fish all trip to the tooth fairy. Early on in the season we were losing 50 to 80 fish every trip to the great whites. I know they're still here in big numbers I seen anywhere between 5 to 8 shark dive boats at the island this last five days. We still have four more spots on our six-day trip after Thanksgiving if you would like to to come and give this a try! The Polaris Supreme Crew!

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 07-12-2016 #2 Hello anglers good afternoon we ended up going offshore hunting kelp patties down with pretty good success we had 32 mix fish yellowfin tuna nice size yellowtail and Dorado. Overall a very successful afternoon and a successful day. The weathers great were rolling up the line and will be in the dock tomorrow morning bright and early. We would like to thank All the Guy's, Billy Stephens and all the Emerson group for coming out and joining us fishing on what was a fun fun five day and a fantastic group of guys. Polaris Supreme Trip Report 07-29-2016 Hello good morning anglers. We are already fishing this morning and have four yellowtail to our credit. We have a nice current and are waiting for things to start happening. We left yesterday afternoon with Tom Chaparro's annual five day charter with a limited load of 18 anglers. It is really quite the joy to be able to fish with such a light load on the boat. Most of Tom's guys have been out with us before and are anxious to get at it. We had a nice prime rib dinner last night and Tom and the boys gave our friend Herb Yamanaka a custom-made Oregon Duck's colored raped rod as a thank you for his many years of creating wonderful wood working's in the form of bowls cups salt shakers you name it he made it from different exotic woods and has given them out every trip. I haven't gotten a picture of the rod yet but as soon as Herb catches a fish will make sure you see pictures of both. Thanks for tuning in Tommy and the crew.

 We had another good day today.  Well, afternoon I should say.  Yesterday, we got here at 2:30 in the PM and the fish were biting right away.  I thought for sure if we were here earlier, it would be stellar.  Nope.  2:30 was just right.  We hung out here all day not seeing any yellers, then right at 2;30, they showed up and it was good fishing for the next few hours.  We set up a little differently today and it paid off.  The grade of fish improved.  It was 70% premiums.  That's right.  18-30+ pounders.  2nd fish hold down.  We're cooling down the center well now. 

 Due to the fantastic fishing we've experienced this trip thus far, we are in need of some bait.  We're headed out to what I think is our best chance at making some.  No ones been there as far as I know for quite some time.  It's been windy.  It looks like we have a good weather window so it shouldn't look like the Flemesh Cap.  We're also hoping to run into some bluefin tuna while out there.  We're not just going out there for bait.  We're looking for something to use it on.  Let's keep the ball rolling.
       

131 Yellowfin Tuna 200 Skipjack Tuna.  Bring a 30-50 lb bait rod to fish big sardines and a 20-25 lb bait rod for small sardines.

Very little signs of Albacore and Blue fin. Beautiful weather and good water. The albacore that were caught by the fleet for the day were very small, 7-11 lbs. And there was very few blue fin with them. Heading to yellowtail grounds tomorrow. Tommy and crew
