castle rock Fishing Report 2024

Today was tough for the first 3/4's of the day looking for 30-40 lb. yellowtail and we only picked up a 1/2 dozen. by late afternoon we bailed out and went for the 20 pounders and had excellent time winding up our yellowtail fishing for the trip. Tomorrow we will be strictly concentrating of Dorado and any tuna we might find. The weather is still spectacular. Thanks, Tommy and crew

Captain Andrew Viola checked I with a wrap-up from the Pacifica out of Seaforth Sportfishing.  Our first trip was a success..  We had a mix of Bluefin and Yellowfin Tuna.  Including action on 50 pound Bluefin Tuna. We did have a few bigger models too.

We are happy to be back at it and we look forward to fishing with you this Summer.

Hello Everyone, Today we had another nice day of fishing. We mainly focused on better quality fish today. We were very selective on the Tuna, Yellowtail, Dorado, Wahoo, Grouper and Pargo we tagged. There was lots of life around today, of all species. With the warm water fish in our holds we are headed up the line to look for bigger grade of Yellowtail. Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-23 to 25-2019 We arrive this morning from our three day trip. We left last Sunday with very high expectations. Only to get them crushed over the next three days. There had been a week straight of fantastic yellowfin tuna and bluefin tuna fishing. It all came tumbling down on Sunday. We definitely hit things on the backside at the very bottom of the bell curve. We managed to scratch up a few nice tuna after getting an early start out on Sunday but all the big hits came that morning. Monday we were able to find one school of good grade yellowfin tuna that stayed with us a while that gave us hopes for the rest of the day being good fishing. It didn't turn out that way though we only picked up another handful of fish throughout of long day of searching. Tuesday we had plenty of action but it was mostly on skipjack in the morning with a mix of smaller grade yellowfin tuna. We hammered out the day until dark with not much luck. As we all know It makes a huge difference on timing when you get out to the fishing grounds we just missed it by a few days. We had a great group of anglers that stuck with us Trying hard all throughout the three days. The San Diego out of Seaforth Landing in San Diego,CA checked in with us today:

39 yellowtail 1 halibut 75 whitefish 8 sculpin.

Trip wrap up: It was a hell of a trip with a great group of guys, with great tackle from Accurate and great food from Shawn. Yes we had some nausea from hurricane Paul but that's something you have to deal with sometimes in long range sportfishing. Thank you so much Mr. Joe Gigliotti and The staff at Accurate for letting us use and lend out your Accurate tackle.

Jackpot goes as follows: Dale Goss took 1st with a 52.6 pound wahoo, pizza man Joey G. took 2nd with a 50.4 pound yellowfin tuna (I told you Joe), and Gary Rogers took 3rd with a 40.2 pound yellowfin tuna. An Honorable mention goes out to Steve Lowe for his 56.4 pound wahoo he caught on the troll.

 

Today we left with our good friend George Davis and his group of dudes on a 14 day trip. Yup, a glory run going down down down. Our bait was fair and seems to be swimming in circles in the tanks and not dying off so that's good. We rigged up our rods and reels today taking our time because we have some time with some travel days ahead of us. We haven't had a true departure travel day for a long time now and I have to say it's nice not being in a rush to get everything done at once. There were some movies played today and a lot of sleep going down in the staterooms. Chef Shawn put out a nice little Sushimi snack that went down quick. Tomorrow we'll do our tackle fishing seminar for Wahoo after breakfast and then I'm sure there will be more movies and naps in everyones future. Travel days are nice. Can you say 1492 and Titos !
