22 yellowtail 16 barracuda 5 bass. Flyline baits on 25 pound line worked best.

7 yellowtail 109 calico bass 63 barracuda. Plenty of bites but with the lack of yellowtail we have decided to head offshore starting tomorrow. We recommend having a 20-30lb rod for kelps and smaller grade tuna and another rod with 40-60lb preferably with a 2 speed reel for fish over 50lbs. Flourocarbon is always recommended when we are offshore. Be prepared to fish flylined baits, sinker rigs and flat falls.

Fishing yesterday was absolutely fantastic. The grade of albacore that we were catching was beautiful with half being 30-40 lbs. and the other half averaging 22 lbs. Weather yesterday and today is excellent. This morning we are already into albacore, blue fin and yellow fin. Looks like a another great day on the water. 23 pass. 75 yellowfin tuna from 12-20 lbs. please bring a 20 lb bait rod a 30 lb bait rod. An optional 4th outfit should be a 40 lb rod to fish an 80-100 gram colt sniper.

Good morning everyone, Yesterday we worked our way up and tried for yellowtail briefly in the morning. We had to be extremely cautious because the early morning fog was very thick. However when it did rise we were able to catch a few yellowtail, but no boomer hits to go with it. We are still very far down the Baja coast and we need to keep working up, so we spent the rest of the day steaming up while dragging some jigs. We will be scouting offshore tomorrow. The first good catch of wahoo arrived with skipper Drew Henderson and his 20 anglers aboard the Polaris Supreme October 28. Over 100 wahoo were caught, and 65 came on a single wild day of fishing at the top end of The Ridge on the Dennis Bunker Memorial trip. Fishing was good for other species as well, but the wahoo drew all the oohs and ahs from the spectators at Fisherman's Landing, as many looked to be over 50 pounds. "We got the job done," wrote Drew on his internet report. "The morning looked very bad. There was wind and a choppy confused sea. That, combined with no fish, led to hopeless thoughts. I don't know why, but after lunch the whole entire bank we were fishing lit up with life. "It didn't take long before we quit fishing tuna and put our sinkers on. We have everything you would hope and ask for on a ten-day trip except one thing, the cow tuna. The storm below is dying. Ourselves and three other boats are going to look for them. I'll be cuddling with my horseshoe tonight. I'm sure they will too." Rick Bynum of Sacramento won first place, for an 80-pound yellowfin tuna. He said he bagged it with a sardine on a 3/0 Eagle Claw hook on 50-pound fluorocarbon leader, 60-pound P-Line and 80-poundSpectra backing. All of it was on a TLD 30 reel and a Seeker Black Steel 6465 XXH rod. "It was fun!" added Bynum. "It took a half-hour." Ddaze Phuong of Orange was second, for a 66.4-pound wahoo, and Mike Grella of Sylmar won third place for a 63-pound wild wahoo. "We saw a little dab of big tuna one day," reported skipper Henderson, "but they wouldn't come up and play."

Nov. 15

                Not much to report from us today.  It was a pretty uneventful day.  We traveled all morning until after lunch when we arrived to the Islands, and we never saw a yellowtail.  It was dead as can be at this place.  We took the tour, well as much as we could in a few hours, and ended up back here in the lee.  We were and still are catching calico bass and things.  We did hook something big, a yellow or a big halibut or even a seabass, but we'll never know because the hook straightened out right before we could see it and the fish got away.  And that's it.  We're going to try and keep our anchor hung right here and see what kind of conditions we have here in the morning for our last day of fishing.  As soon as the wind backs off enough for a tolerable ride offshore Tuesday morning, we'll be on our way home.

                                                                                                               

Starting to see some schools of this grade bluefin in our travels again. Make sure you bring a 40lb rod to go along with your 20 lb rod. Might be a good idea to bring some 4oz torpedos and rubber bands also. This 40 pound rod can also serve as a flyline rod if we get on a good biting school of yellowfin.
