Saturday, July 14th, 2012

Good evening everyone. We departed earlier this evening for our second annual Optima charter with Garth and his best of buddies. We loaded up on some bait that doesn't look all that stellar but maybe after it settles down, they'll turn into some champions. Anyhow, we're on our way down to try our hand at some Bluefin tuna offshore and some Yellowtail on kelps. Apparently, the Yellowtail are growing a little bit, if you can locate the right kelp as one of our code boats did, and caught some 'tails in the 15-22 lb. range. Regardless, we'll be looking first thing tomorrow morning and we'll try to make a day of it. Our weather is beautiful and we're looking for more. Wish us luck.

 

The San Diego out of Seaforth Landing in San Diego,CA checked in with us today:

32 yellowtail. Still good sign of yellowtail around but they definitely felt used and abused after the busy weekend. Back at it tomorrow hoping for an attitude adjustment.

Fishing report for the week of sept 16-22. This past week was all about looking thru the binoculars and praying that you find the lucky kelp. Scores for the 3/4 day boats this week have ranged anywhere from 0 to 150 fish. The highlight of our week was a kelp we found on Thursday which kicked out 44 nice size dorado and 100 yellowtail. On Friday we caught our first yellowfin tuna of the season. This season is showing no signs of slowing down so make those reservations and come on down.

Good times were had by all on the Skipper Dang annual private charter. Light loads all week.

Wednesday, July 24th, 2013

Good evening, friends. The Yellowtail grounds were kind to us today. We had a rough go of it this morning but right after lunch time, we got on a spot of really nice fish that bit for us for a 5 hours and we made a fun day of it. The grade of fish was especially nice as most were in the 22-28 lb. class with a few of those premium 'tails thrown in. Flylined Sardines were the hot ticket but the jigs worked now and then too. All in all, it was a great day of Yellowtail fishing and we are pumped. To top it off, the weather was great and those who decided to get down with some sun, the bronzing was real nice.

So that is all. We are now in position to hopefully snag a few of those White Seabass fish and we're hoping to get lucky. Chef Shawn is keeping everyone fat and happy and Paul's group is having a ball. It's a real treat to catch fish with this group, as they had a blast today. We'll give this seabass thing a try for a few hours and if they don't bite, we'll be headed to the tuna grounds again. If they bite, we'll sit tight. Take care, wish us luck, we love you.

Hello Supreme fans. We have finally hit our stride and started fishing.Unfortunately it happened to be right in the midst of some extremely tough fishing. Our first trip of the year was an Open party three day trip. We spent the three day searching the ocean for biting tuna as well as some inshore action. The tuna fishing was really slow but full of lots of spots of fish, and they were BIG. Bluefin well into the 150 lb class were around but not biting. We chipped away at some inshore fish and were able to put together a nice catch of quality Reds and Lingcod from the bottom. However the star of the show was hands down the jackpot fish. A 130lb Bluefin Tuna, a hard earned fish that ended in victory! These fish were big and did not make it easy to hook them or land them. Their size, abrasive teeth, and unwillingness to bite created quite the challenge.We did managed to hook 5 fish and only landed one. We are out on a two day after Independence day. Wish us Luck! Nov. 13

                We were back on The Ridge today.  We got to the spot a little after daylight and we found some action after a little bit of looking.  We were making drifts catching wahoo and tuna.  No great numbers on the wahoo.  We caught one per rod.  That's an average though.  Not everyone caught one.  For example, I believe team Oberg caught 3 or 4, and team Grella caught 5.  So it wasn't a great spread but everyone had there chances.  For example, team Holeman went 1 for 7 nd team Henry lost a bunch too.  But when they weren't losing wahoo they were pulling on tuna.  A bit on the smaller side but not too small.  We were tagging the bigger ones.  It was a fun and productive day I thought.  But we always want more.

 

                We left a little while after lunch toward Alijos Rocks and we'll be there all day tomorrow.  We'll most likely have to leave tomorrow night though because the wind, she's acoming.

                                                                               

Hello Everyone, Today we had a full speed bite on the Dorado. One kelp we stopped on had a good hit, but later that day we found an eager school free swimming in the water. The Dorado fishing has been awesome the past couple weeks I hope it stays this good. We will be fishing Yellowtail tomorrow. Wish us luck, Team supreme
