Hello everyone, Sorry for the delayed report, the weather was so rough that I had trouble keeping the keyboard at my fingertips! Now the weather has smoothed out temporally. Our final day of fishing was a nice day of mixed fish. With Wahoo, Yellowtail, and Yellowfin Tuna. It was a nice surprise catching these yellowtail and yellowfin tuna pushing 40 lbs! A nice grade of fish we have not seen here in some time. We are headed up now and will be in tomorrow morning bright and early. Team Supreme

Captain Ryan Bostian from the San Diego out of Seaforth Landing in San Diego, CA.  Today we had great fishing and a light load.  Our 9 anglers ended up with 45 California Yellowtail (LIMITS) and 45 Vermilion Rockfish (LIMITS).

The wind is coming up so our next fishable day will be on Saturday.  Call the landing to get in on the action.

 We're going to go ahead and chalk this one up as a travel day.  That's pretty much what we did today.  Starting last night.  And it was a rough one.  As soon as we got a couple hours northeast of the stones things got a bit windy and the boat started to rock.  Not good sleeping weather.  We got through it though.  Even Chef Mike got breakfast out without too much whining this morning.  Things started to smooth out a couple of hours prior to arriving to our fishing hole.  Our fishing hole didn't prove to be very productive though.  So we traveled up.  That's something you have to do on these longer trips when you fish the Rocks or the Ridge.  It's a long way down there.  So we caught a few wahoo on our travel day.

 Unfortunately the weather picked back up this afternoon and we've been scooping waves over the house steady since 3:00 or so.  Right now I turned it down swell for dinner because we have a couple hours to kill.  We're going to head back up to our tuna/wahoo honey hole from the beginning of the trip and hope for good weather.  Just two days left to fish on this trip.
       

Hey everyone it's time again to start seriously thinking about when you will be able to get on the boat for a tuna trip. Well the albies are being caught right now in good weather and some bft are showing up too. We have 2 openings on a two day charter next week. We depart on Wednesday night and return on Friday night.  October 15th, 2012

Hi, friends. We woke up this morning to lovely weather and a lovely Mediterranean omelet for breakfast. Drew didn’t care for the egg dish, at all, but what Drew does care for is his new book that he recently completed in a whopping day-and-a-half, The Hunger Games. That’s right, Drew Henderson is in the club. With no military background or training, I carried out a stealth reconnaissance mission—complete with a summersault—and snapped a super stealthy photo of Drew getting in a couple chapters in the salon before we began our trolling/mast rotations (you'll see the photo on Sunday). Those books are captivating! I’ve completed the trilogy, Chef Shawn is midway through the second book, and Drew is just starting the second so within a matter of a few days, our book club meetings will be just dandy, complete with T-shirts that read "I Heart Katniss".

Anyhow, on to the fishing. Our morning saw us snag a few nice flatheads on the troll and we also managed a few on the bait/jig rigs. A little bit after lunch; we had a few wahoo strikes with our best stop producing four beautiful skins. Dale Goss to looks to be in the lead for jackpot thus far as he landed what looks to be about a fifty pounder on bait. Although the wahoo action was short-lived, the mahi-mahi action was just enough to keep us busy today and who doesn’t love the mahi-mahi action? For the most part, this area was unproductive but we had to give it a shot, as it will be our only shot fishing south of the 28 latitude this trip.

Speaking of one shot, it was a good thing I got my bronze on these last two days as it might be a little windy the remainder of the trip and I’m going to Oregon when this trip gets back in. Bottom line, I need to glow and not embarrass the reputation of a San Diego boy whom works on a long-range sport fishing vessel that charters the waters deep into Baja California Sur. I've heard that some people in the northwestern states get really depressed because they don't see the sun for months at a time. Fear not, friends of OR/WA, I'm coming up there to spread the joy of sunlight and give hope to those who desperately seek this natural wonder of the universe. It's okay, my cloudy companions, we here on the Polaris Supreme have plenty of UV rays to share and I shall deliver the gift to all of you from all of us. You're welcome.

Okay, back to the topic at hand. At around 1600 hours, we bid farewell to the wahoo zone and began to make our way up the line to not only put us in position to do some yellowtail fishing tomorrow but to also keep ahead of Hurricane Paul. Our weather currently is very nice where we are but in a matter of hours, it won’t be and we’re bailing out to make sure that we don’t stick around to prove the weatherman correct. Hurricane Paul has thrown us a slight curveball but we’re more than happy to fish for some cow yellas, mahi-mahi’s, twenty-five to fifty pound yellowfin, and twenty-five to one hundred and twenty-five pound bluefin tuna closer to home and further from a hurricane. It might be a blessing-in-disguise. We’ll see.

So that’s all. We’ll be doing some yellowtail fishing tomorrow before we decide on our next move. We’re taking things as the come and we’ll keep you informed on our whereabouts. Everything is just fine here on the boat and we’re all safe and sound. We’re just hoping that Hurricane Paul is a Chargers fan and fails after giving his all for half of his cycle. I would be very concerned if this hurricane was named Hurricane Peyton. Very concerned.

In closing, I had some time to type up the on-goings of life here on the Polaris Supreme so I took advantage of it. I’m sorry for the novel but to get a better perspective on how we roll here on the Supreme, one must get a perspective on how we live life here on the Supreme. Sometimes, it’s not all about fishing but I promise to give you a glorious fishing report tomorrow. With that, I leave you with a few shout-outs. Take care.

The guys did it again. Another killer day back to back in more jock strap and sun visor weather. Scott released a 150 lb., 165 lb., 185 lb., another 185 lb., 145 lb., 175., and kept a 210 pounder. Bob released a 135 lb., 185 lb., and kept another 220 pounder. Al released a 170 lb., and kept a 215 lb., 170 lb., 165 lb., and 135 pounder. Craig released a 125 lb., 175 lb., 180 lb., and kept a 175 lb., and 180 pounder. Roger kept a 160 lb., 175 lb., and a 180 pounder. Sheridan released a 170 lb., and kept a 180 lb., and 198 pounder. Tom released a 180 lb., 190 lb., 186 lb., another 180 lb., and kept a 165 lb., 185 lb., and 190 pounder. George released a 100 lb., 110 lb., 120 lb., and 160 lb., and he kept a 160 lb., and 170 pounder. Lunch today was chicken breast burger and dinner was steak Neptune. Good evening everyone, we're back!!!!  After 2 months of grueling boat work we are back on the water and couldn't be happier.  What's new with the crew?  Not much with most of the guys.  Jed got his captains license.  That's big news.  And I had a beautiful baby daughter in April.  That's big news too.  Mark's the same enjoyable goofball, Gunny's the same fish hunting fellow.  Schoolers still dishing out tasty meals and Gringo is back helping him out.  We also have some new crew members joining the supreme team this year.

We departed this evening on a 1 1/2 day trip.  We are pleased with  the bait we got because we lucked out and got a tank of sardine to go with a couple tanks of usable anchovy if need be.  Hopefully it will be because we run out of sardine with all the fish we catch.  The reports are fishy.  There's yellowfin and bluefin and yellowtail to catch if you find the right schools that want to bite and those are the schools we'll be looking for all day long tomorrow.  Weather reports are calling for some wind tomorrow but they downsized there forecast from this morning so hopefully it won't be too bad.  Time will tell.

Right now we're wrapping up our prime rib dinner and will be going to bed soon so we're all rested up for our big day tomorrow.  Sweet dreams and goodnight.
