 Good evening folks. So today was a rather tough day of fishing. The weather certainly didn't cooperate with us for the entire day. Mixed up choppy seas with a little better than 15 knots of wind. As we all know that makes for less than ideal fishing conditions, but the guys still hung in there and when it came time to stop on a breezer, meter mark or a nice size kelp patty, then still got out and got their lines wet so bravo to them.  We still managed to scratch up a few yellowfin throughout the day with a couple tuna right at Sundown to take us into wine tasting and dinner. They always say that a tough day of fishing can be cured by a great meal and that was sure the case today. Chef David certainly out did himself once again with a beautiful fillet mignon and king crab leg meal for us tonight. That put some smiles on some faces without a doubt. But that's trhe great thing about this group, they aren't out here just to fish, they love to enjoy the full experience.  To wrap up the night, we dished out probably the tallest "decadent" chocolate cake a la mode that I've ever seen! Wow! That sent them to bed with full bellies and a nice ride up to tomorrows tuna grounds for round 2 of tuna fishing. Wish us luck and check back in tomorrow for the days run down.

 P.S. The entire group here would like to send a huge congratulations to Mr and Mrs. Taylor Gledhill as they welcomed their healthy 7lb 17oz 19.5 inch baby girl into the world today at 4:20. The kids are getting picky! Today we spent our day offshore looking for kelps. We had outstanding fishing on the smaller Yellowfin Tuna even though we released most of them. Our main target today was trying to find some Dorado, and a couple kelps had just what we needed. We ended up with with an action-packed day of quality Dorado and small Yellowfin fishing. A great way to end the trip. full of action and a few bigger fish.

Often times the very FIRST piece of the puzzle is the most difficult to locate. Today we stopped on multiple small schools of yellowtail that were surprisingly hard to hook. Full size yo-yo jigs on 40 lb mono produced the first 2 yellowtail of our season. We also spent a couple hours fishing the bottom to assure everyone had plenty of white meat. We’re hoping this is just the tip of the iceberg. Make those resos !

Hi friends. Not too much to report today on the Polaris Supreme. After the completion of lunch, all we did was pull on bluefin tuna, dorado, and yellowtail. Granted, the dorado's were shin slappers and the yella's were neck ties, but we did weed out a handful of nicer onces and kept the BFT's a comin'. We did see a couple flurries of that smaller 12-15 lb. fish, but for the most part, our grade was a solid 25-30 lb. grade, and they bit very well too.

To give you an idea of how good fishing was, and for some reason, I'm still kind of buzzing about this situation, but after monitoring the anglers on the bow for a while, I couldn't help but toss a line out, as there were boils ten feet from the boat and the angler participation was starting to dwindle as the end of the day was upon us and the cocktails were beginning to flow. Anyhow, I was soaking a bait for a bit, chattin' it up with an angler to my left, and here comes another angler to the bow with a fish that's close to gaff on my right. So, I grabbed a gaff, put my rod in the gaff holder, in gear, and told the angler "If this gets bit (pipe dream), grab it and swap out your rod for the hooked up one." About thirty seconds later, as my anglers fish was getting ready for the death-shot, I hear "Hey Richie! Something is--uh--happening!" Low and behold, the gaff rig is full bendo with line screaming off of it. Wowza! For all this "Bluefin require a stealthy approach and light line", we hooked one up with a half dead bait, in gear, sitting in the rack. Bottom line, excellent fishing. No reason to not tell a little story that I thought was pretty hot.

So that's it. Pretty easy decision for tomorrow's activities as we're going to put out the "sack" and try have a repeat of today tomorrow. Hopefully we connect with a morning bite on the bag and don't have to pull it first thing at 0530 hours. Our weather is just okay, a little breezy and choppy but plenty workable conditions. Hi friends. Great morning for us here on the Supreme. We worked our way up to the Yellowfin zone last night/early this morning and we were pleasantly surprised when we woke up on the grounds to find good working weather. With that, we got on a school this morning that produced easy Mexican daily limits for us in one stop. The grade of fish was 18-25 lbs. with a few bigger and smaller mixed in, they bit really well for us.

What turned on in the afternoon was the weather and we're presently bumping up the line to finish off our trip on Bluefin tomorrow. The boats in the area reported excelent, scores so we're hoping to use up the rest of our energy on the BFT's manana before we have to call it a trip.

Anyways, the passengers are doing fine; downstairs watching "Eastbound and Down" and getting ready to eat some of Chef Shawn's Asian-inspired ribs and hunker down for the remainder of the evening. We'll see how our weather shapes up but it's supposed to come down. We'll see. We'll chat with you tomorrow for a wrap-up report.

Hello everyone, Today was the last day of our SImpatico 5 day charter. We decided to try our hand again at these Bluefin Tuna. The weather was choppy and it was uncomfortable for everyone. We only scratched up a couple of small tuna during the day. It wasn't until the evening that we found a school that wanted to play. We got our shot right before dark on a school right at the buzzard, at the end of the day. The fish were from 25 to 80 lbs, a nice mixed school to bring aboard and save the day! We had a great drift until dark, and we were excited to get the action in. What a great way to finish a great trip! An unbelievable variety on this trip including White Seabass, Halibut, Yellowtail, Dorado, Yellowfin Tuna, and even a 141lb Bluefin Tuna! Also I would like to thank Charter master Vernon Burke for putting together such a fun charter with a great group of guys! Always look forward to the trip and cant wait till next year! The Bluefin started biting before sunrise and like a broken record, more than their share got away, we went 10 for about 25 on the 45-55 pound Bluefin, the hot ticket being the flatfall. After sunrise, the plump Yellowfin bit for several hours, being caught primarily on flylined 20 pound.
