Wow, I think we have to pinch ourselves to make sure it's real. We had an unbelievable day. You could throw a bait in the water any time from day break to dark and catch a tuna. Some anglers released as many as 15 tuna in the 35-45 lb. class. We also scratched a few wahoo. After a delicious dinner of a veal shank, fresh asparagus and red potatoes all our guys and one lady went to bed very tired. Our weather is gorgeous and we are looking forward to another fantastic day tomorrow. Thanks for checking in. Tommy and crew P.S. Osterkamp charter had to work hard for every bite but in the end we achieved our goal. (1) made it home safe. (2) enjoy the ocean with friends and family. (3) every one of our 43 customers caught a fish as we ended with 61 yellowfin tuna.

Less flash, more RESULTS! Today we hit our stride. Pulling on fish hard to get them away from the sharks, in addition to that the conditions improved in our favor. We had less fish around us today but our landing ratio was much better. We were able to put together a nice day picking at quality Yellowfin. Ranging from 40-80 lbs with the occasional 100 lber. Great day overall.

Sien On and his charter group got a quick shot in the bottom of the ninth. They landed 31 yellowfin 8 yellowtail 2 bonito. A small hook and 20lb fluorocarbon got most of the bites.

Captain Ryan Bostian checked in tonight with an update from the San Diego. Today we had 35 anglers catch 9 Bluefin Tuna and 1 Yellowfin Tuna. We are going to stick with offshore fishing thru at least Saturday. We are keeping close tabs on the Coronado Islands but as of today the islands have been slow. Tuna fishing has been far from wide open but we believe the potential for a big hit is there. Fishing changes very fast. Don’t be a part of the “Day after” crowd. Pick a day, Pick a boat and go. No Passports required for offshore fishing.

This trip had a little of everything. (1) stressed out captain because he thought we might get skunked. (2) line shy, finicky tuna that would only bite light line. (3) Wide Open, heavy line eating, 45 going, madness. (4) a really cool shark that hung with us while we caught 198 yellowfin tuna.

GOOD GRADE ! We knew something was different when we had been stopped for 20 minutes with 20+ tuna hooked and we still had not put one on the boat. After a couple hours of drifting and many “zing-pows”. We managed to land 82 (22-30 lb ) yellowfin. We also had a late afternoon skipjack riot for 138 fish.

There were many schools around and it took a lot of work but we got them to play!  There are Yellowfin Tuna schools and Kelp patty Yellowtail in the area as well.

We were able to get a great evening hit on the 60-100lb Bluefin.
